“You’re not careful, and we won’t make it to Thanksgiving.”
Unfortunately, that seemed to snap him out of it, and I wished like hell I could take the words back.
We were mostly quiet as we made the drive out to Rush and Lincoln’s. Part of me wondered if it was where we were going that got him all riled up. The Rush thing bothered me more than I liked, more than I wanted to admit, because I sure as shit had never been jealous before.
“Rush texted. Apparently, Mama K, Beth, Kenny, and Lincoln have been cooking since yesterday.”
Short Stuff had told me that Rush’s mom had been teaching him different things to cook the past few months, so I wasn’t surprised that he was in there helping. “They wouldn’t let me bring anything,” I told him.
“Yeah, me neither.”
We pulled into the driveway of Rush’s ranch-style home, right behind Dax and Jace. My brother’s car, along with everyone else’s, was already there.
“Hey, man. How’s it going?” Jace asked as we got out of the truck. He had that blond, boy-next-door look going for him like he always did.
“Not bad,” I replied. “How about yourself?”
“Good,” Jace answered as Dax put an arm around him.
“Are your moms coming too?” Jude asked.
“No, both our moms are in Parlaisa with Keegan and Owen. Owen had some business he had to take care of. Jace’s mom wanted to be with him, and who the hell knows what Serena is doing,” Dax replied, and we laughed. His mom was…well, she was crazy, but a hoot.
The four of us headed to the door. Jude knocked, then slid it open, reminding me how at home he felt with Rush. Damn that nagging jealousy again.
Rush’s mom, Kathy, was walking by just as we came in, and she hugged Jude right away. “So good to have both my boys here today,” she told him, and damn it, my chest felt too tight.
“It’s good to be here, Mama K. It smells good. You know I love your Thanksgiving dinners.”
She said hello to everyone else before going back toward the kitchen. “Most everyone is in the living room,” she said, so we headed that way.
Ash and Beau were standing together, looking like a couple of cartoon characters, they were smiling so damn big. They leaned against the back of the couch, Rush and Linc standing in front of them, the four of them talking.
Carter was fiddling with Sawyer’s shirt like he was trying to fix it, and Sawyer was grinning at him like he had just provided the answer to world peace or something.
I reached over and grabbed Jude’s hand, threading our fingers together. Fuck it. If I was playing his boyfriend, I was going to excel at my part. If he didn’t like it, he was going to have to tell me.
For a moment he tensed up, but then his body loosened. He looked down at our hands, then at me, cocking a brow.
“Something wrong, Boyfriend?” I asked.
“No. Just interesting.”
“Jude finally joins the cool kids club, but I have to question his taste in men,” Linc teased, prompting me to let go of Jude.
I grabbed Lincoln and pulled him into a loose headlock, messing up his hair.
“Ugh! I hate it when you do that to me. Rush is going to kick your ass.”
I laughed when he pulled away. “Rush, huh?”
“I’m too pretty to fight,” Linc replied.
“Are you saying I’m not pretty?” Rush countered.
“No. You’re fucking gorgeous, but obviously not as pretty as me. Duh.” Linc tried to fix his hair while giving me the evil eye.
“You know you love me, Short Stuff. Hey, BB,” I added when Carter and Sawyer approached us.
“Are you picking on Lincoln again?” Sawyer asked.
“Yes, yes he is. He’s always picking on me. Control your brother.” Linc mock-frowned.
“Can anyone control Cam?” Jude asked.
“You can, Boyfriend.” I winked. He flushed. Everyone got quiet.
Rush was watching us, Sawyer smiled, but of course it was Ashton fucking Carmichael who broke the silence. “Blowjobs every night for a week! Boom. I told you they’d get together!”
“First, did you just say boom?” I asked. “And second, you have to make bets with your husband to get your dick sucked? Definitely never getting married now.”
“Nope. Who wouldn’t want to blow me?” Ash teased. “I’ve got a great cock.”
“After I fixed it,” Beau said, and Ash’s eyes widened.
“Context, Campbell! I assure you all, my dick is just fine. He’s talking about the being-with-a-guy thing.” Then Ash looked at Jace. “Fucking amazing, right?”
“Hell yeah,” Jace replied.
Elliott, who worked with Dax and Carter, approached us. I hadn’t known he would be there. “I wouldn’t know,” he added.
“Oh, speaking of…we still need to do the ceremony for Jude,” Carter said.
“Ceremony?” Jude’s brows pulled together.
“Yeah, it’s where we welcome you to the club, share the gay agenda and all that with you,” Linc answered, and we all laughed.
