“You don’t have to figure shit out right now,” I say. “Just… let yourself grieve.”

“Oh, God, yes, just like that.”

I know I’ve hit the spot when Sadie’s eyes roll up to the ceiling. Her back arches, and her tight cunt squeezes the fuck out of my dick, taking me straight over that edge right along with her.

I pull out and drop onto my back, needing to catch my breath. Fuck, I’m out of shape. I can’t even remember the last time I worked out. Maybe it’s because I’ve never been with the same woman more than once since… Well, I had no idea how insatiable women could be. At least Sadie is. Ever since the first time we fucked, she’s wanted it on the regular. Since she’s the one grieving, I don’t want to take advantage and am never the one to start it, but to be honest, I don’t even need to because she wants it all the damn time… Not that I’m complaining.

My phone dings with a text, and I glance at it, seeing Camden’s name, along with a picture of his newborn daughter, Marianna. She was born a couple of days ago, and I was supposed to go up to the hospital to visit. I tried, but the moment the car pulled into the hospital parking lot, flashbacks of the worst fucking night of my life hit me so hard, I made the driver turn around and take us back to the condo, where Sadie and I spent the next two days getting high and fucking.

I text Camden back, telling him she’s beautiful, but don’t make any promise of coming to visit, knowing that shit isn’t happening until they’re back at home.

“I need to clean up,” Sadie murmurs, sliding off the bed and stumbling to the bathroom, still high from the joint we shared earlier.

I open my bedstand drawer and grab the baggie of powder, dropping some onto the wood. Using the razor, I form a line and then lean in, taking a hit. The high is instant, but it’s not enough, so I do one more line before I get up to get dressed.

“I’m gonna take a shower,” Sadie calls from inside the bathroom, poking her head out. “Wanna join?”

“Nah, I’m gonna get a drink and make something to eat. You hungry?”

“Starved,” she groans. “I’ll just be a few minutes.”

After taking a piss, I throw on my shorts and pad out to the kitchen to see what I can whip up. I’m scouring through the fridge when the front door alarm goes off, and seconds later, Braxton and Declan join me in the kitchen.

“’Sup,” I say, grabbing some bread to make Sadie and me a couple of grilled cheeses.

“Just came from visiting the baby. They’re back at home, so we stopped by to bring them some food. Have you gone by to see them?” Declan asks, his tone filled with accusation.

Without meeting his eyes, I shake my head, not wanting him to see the truth… That I couldn’t fucking do it.

“Nah, I forgot,” I lie. “But Camden sent me a picture. Cute kid. I’ll go by and see them soon.”

I can feel Declan glaring my way, but I ignore him, focusing on buttering the bread and heating up the pan.

“How’s Kaylee?” I ask Braxton, referring to his girlfriend, who I’m friends with. Some bullshit went down the other night with his dad paying off Braxton’s bodyguard to seduce her, which ended in her being drugged and a bunch of photos being posted that made it look like she was cheating on him—which was a fucking lie because she wouldn’t do that shit to him.

“She’s all right,” Braxton says. “Still a little shaken up, but we’ll get through it. She’s actually why I stopped by. I wanted to talk to you both.”

I set the sandwiches in the pan to cook and look up. “What’s up?”

“I’ve convinced Kaylee to let me move in with her.” Braxton grins, and my heart clenches in my chest, happy for him and Kaylee. They’ve been in love with each other for years, and I’m glad they’re finally working shit out. They both deserve to be happy.

“Congrats, man!” Declan hugs him.

“Congrats,” I add, flipping the sandwiches over.

“Thanks.” Braxton smiles, looking happy as hell. “I had planned to give her space and let her live alone for a while, but—”

“But you can’t stay away from her, so you’re ditching this bachelor pad to move in with your girlfriend,” Declan finishes.

“Yeah.” Braxton shrugs. “Pretty much.”

“It’s all good,” Declan says. “Speaking of which…” He turns his attention on me. “The lease is due to renew soon. You still want to live here, or are you planning to ditch me too?”

I scoop up the sandwiches and drop them onto the plates. “Where the fuck am I going?” I ask, confused as shit.
