“I’d love it if a Guardian could use a bed or a battered couch. My stuff isn’t very good,” she said and bit her lip.
“No worries, Blue Eyes. Your things will help someone settle in here. A bit worn is fine. If it was too fancy, the bikers would be afraid to sit on it.”
That mental image brought a giggle to her lips—and another quick inhale.
“I think your reminder has done its job. Let’s go back to our apartment and I’ll show you how much I love you, Little girl.”
“I’d like that, Daddy.”
Chapter
Seventeen
Sapphire scanned her empty apartment. It was a visual reminder of how much her world had changed since Blade walked into her jewelry store. A crew of the MC members had shown up in trucks and on bikes. That had garnered a lot of attention from her neighbors.
A laugh bubbled out of her throat. She imagined what she would have thought if she’d not known all the bikers. They looked rough and dangerous. They were. But they were also the best guys to have in your corner. Not many people in the world would put their lives on the line for someone else.
“Everything good, Little girl?” Blade asked.
“Yes, Daddy. I’m the best I’ve ever been. I can’t believe they cleared out my apartment in a couple of hours.”
“The guys have headed back to the clubhouse. Is there anything else you need to do here?”
“No. I’m just thinking about how different life is now,” Sapphire confessed.
“Different good or different bad?”
“Definitely good,” she said, smiling at him. Sapphire loved that he always checked to make sure she was happy.
“I’m glad, Blue Eyes. I feel the same way. Let’s get Silver and head home,” Blade suggested.
Nodding, she walked over to pick up her tote bag with the cute gray bear peeking out from the top. “The manager will be here any minute to go through the apartment. Could we wait for her?”
“Of course.”
“Knock, knock,” Sara, from the management office, called from the doorway.
“Hi, Sara. Come in. We’ve gotten everything moved,” Sapphire told her.
“And all cleaned up. Maybe I should hire those hunky bikers helping you,” Sara said, chuckling.
“I was afraid you’d get some calls about the invasion,” Sapphire confessed.
“Just a few. It was obvious to everyone quickly that they weren’t here to rumble,” the manager said. “I’ll just do a fast round of the apartment and see if there’s any damage.”
“Of course,” Sapphire told her.
In a few minutes, Sara had finished her inspection and double-checked she had Sapphire’s new contact information to send a refund of her deposit. “We’ll miss having you as a tenant. I’ll have to come down to The Blue Door to do some shopping soon.”
“I’d love to see you, Sara,” Sapphire assured her as they all walked out together.
They parted ways at the door. Blade escorted Sapphire to his bike and securely fastened the tote bag in one of his saddlebags before lifting her helmet from the seat.
“Let’s get this on, Blue Eyes.” He fit the protective device on her head and pulled the strap securely before straightening the blue fuzzy ears. “You look adorable.”
Sapphire reached up to stroke the new attachments. She loved them so hard. “Thank you for my ears.”
“You totally needed those.” He tilted her chin up and kissed her warmly. “Let’s go home.”
“Yes, Daddy.”
Blade strapped on his helmet and straddled his bike. His movements shouldn’t have turned her on, but they did. I’ve got it bad.
When he had the motor running and the bike balanced between his powerful thighs, Blade waved to her to mount behind him. Sliding into place, Sapphire hugged his trim waist and scooted as close as possible.
He wrapped a hand around her thigh and squeezed before grabbing his handlebar. In seconds, he glided smoothly from the parking spot. She closed her eyes and rested her head on his back, savoring the feel of him against her. Riding with Blade was exciting. Between the throb of the motor between her legs and the excuse to hold on to his hard body, Sapphire enjoyed every trip.
Opening her eyes, she appreciated the scenery on their route. Sapphire sat up straight when Blade drove past the clubhouse. Leaning close to his ear, she called, “Where are we going?”
“It’s a surprise, Little girl.”
“Don’t we need to help unload?” she worried.
“No. The guys have it.”
Arguing on a motorcycle wasn’t feasible. Sapphire decided Blade knew his MC brothers better than she did. She wouldn’t worry about offending them.
She relaxed and enjoyed the drive. It was the perfect day. Not too hot, not too cold. The sky was gorgeous with a few wispy clouds.
When Blade slowed to take a small dirt path, she squeezed him a bit tighter. This was her first time off a paved road. They bounced along, turning several times until a crystal blue lake appeared beside them. Blade circled around it and finally brought the bike to a stop at a small cabin next to the water.
