Max groaned quietly, pushing his hips against me. My fingers flexed against his erection, and I sighed when his hand cradled my jaw. He dipped his head to brush his lips over my neck. Just when I thought I had him, he had me right back, and I was weak for him once again.

Slowly, he shifted, making my body shuffle over too. He reached over me to the bedside table and rummaged in the top drawer, then produced a condom. One of his arms was still trapped beneath my head, and I gave a breathy laugh at his awkward angling of trying to open the packet.

I plucked it from his fingers and tried to open it, ultimately failing, which made him laugh. I gave up and used my teeth to rip the foil open, then handed it to him to put on. The wetness between my legs made it easy for him to position his cock there and slowly push inside me.

A gentle moan escaped my lips as Max stilled, buried inside me. Warmth flushed through my body as he ran his hand up my bare side and kissed my neck, then slowly moved his hips. My eyes fluttered shut as he gripped my thigh to keep my legs parted, exerting just enough pressure that shivers ran all over my skin. The easy rhythm of Max’s thrusting was almost hypnotic, even when he moved his arm beneath me and propped himself up on his elbow.

His fingers curled around my jaw and turned my head back, and our lips came together as I gripped the back of my thigh, holding my leg up.

It felt so natural, and the sensation of him moving so easily with me was oh-so-good. A thin sheen of sweat coated my skin, and I broke our kiss to gasp as pleasure coursed through me. Little by little, it intensified with each stroke of his cock inside me. My muscles tightened in uncontrollable spasms, and I arched my back, pushing my hips closer to him, pulling him deeper and deeper inside me until I could no longer take it.

Sweet heat pulsed across my skin. The hairs on my arms stood up as I cried out, and Max grabbed my thigh, manoeuvring himself to finish. His movements were faster, he thrust into me harder, dragging out every last second of my orgasm until I thought I might have to beg him to stop.

I was barely coming down from my high when he groaned, stilling inside me, and buried his face in my hair. I relaxed, sinking back into Max’s body, and slowly let my leg fall. He wrapped his arms around me and exhaled against my shoulder, and I felt him smile as he pressed his lips to my skin.

I laughed, albeit breathlessly. “Um, good morning.”

“It certainly is,” Max muttered, each movement of his lips like little kisses. “I was going to make breakfast until I realised you were naked.”

“I’m sorry?” I offered tiredly.

“Don’t be.” He let out a breathy chuckle and slowly pulled out of me. He had to release me to remove the condom and get up to dispose of it, and I squeezed my legs together.

Oh, no.

I hated getting up after sex.

Something always trickled.

Max appeared in the doorway right as I looked up, grinned, and threw a towel at my head. I caught it right before it hit me and narrowed my eyes at him, then very elegantly got up and shoved it between my legs.

He laughed as I hobbled across the bedroom, and I swatted him before turning down the hall to the bathroom.

“Didn’t you mention something about breakfast?” I asked, standing in the doorway and raising my eyebrows at him.

His lips curved to one side. “I guess I should cook. I’ll get dressed.”

“Don’t put clothes on on my account,” I replied smartly, then spun into the bathroom and shut the door behind me.

His laughter lingered just long enough for me to glance back at the door and smile.

I was so screwed.

“Can I ask you something?” I turned my face away from the rain that was hammering against the window to look at Max.

He peered up from his laptop and met my gaze. “I might not answer, but I won’t stop you asking.”

I barely refrained from rolling my eyes at his stupid answer. “Why are you so against getting married and having kids?”

“That’s the one I’m not going to answer.” He turned his attention back to his laptop and started typing again.

I set mine down on the cushion in front of me on the window seat and stared at him. “It seems really important to your grandma.”

He didn’t respond.

“Oh, come on. Surely my question isn’t that unreasonable.”

Max sighed, letting his fingers still on the keyboard, but he didn’t look at me. “Ellie, please drop it.”
