“So fuckin’ what?”

When his gaze dropped to Sapphire’s crotch area, she grimaced and pressed a hand to her churning stomach.

“So, you can’t afford to lose more dancers, Saint.”

“Ain’t gonna lose dancers ‘cause of the dressin’ room.”

“We’re down one toilet and shower.”

“All you do is fuckin’ bitch.” He shook head. “Don’t know why the fuck I put up with a goddamn slit like you.”

Sapphire slowly pulled in a breath and then just as slowly pushed it back out. She was too tempted to yank off one of her platform shoes and jam the heel dead center into his forehead. Or up his exposed asshole.

“I think we both know why you do.”

“What-fuckin’-ever.” He turned his attention back to Sunny. At least he was no longer using Sapphire as his fuck fodder.

“The girls are this club’s assets. You need to keep them happy.”

He jerked his chin toward the woman bent over before him. “What the fuck d’you think I’m doin’?” He turned his dark eyes back to her. “Could make you happy, too.”

Hard pass.

Sapphire shrugged. “Okay, then. I tried. Don’t expect them to care about their job if you don’t care about them.”

Even from where she stood, she could see the biker set his jaw and his nostrils flare.

She was pissing him off.

Good. Fuck him and his enormous ego. Narcissistic pig.

When she turned to leave, she heard, “Got a new construction guy. Gonna get him to do whatever’s needed. Make a fuckin’ list, then you can deal with him yourself.”

He did?

She turned back. “I don’t care who does it, as long as it gets done.” And she’d be fine with directing whoever it was since she didn’t trust either Taint or Cookie to get everything fixed properly.

Cheap motherfucker.

“You ain’t in a position to make demands, bitch.”

“I kind of am,” she swallowed down asshole and finished with, “Saint.”

She hesitated. On Monday night, over take-out, Rez and her had a deep discussion about T-Bone and Sadie. It couldn’t hurt to poke Taint about the missing prospect since Decker and Sloane were desperate to find her sister.

“Hey,” she started. “You ever hear of a woman named Sadie Parrish?”

Taint was now ramming Sunny even harder. The woman wasn’t making a damn sound, so Sapphire couldn’t imagine she was enjoying it. She knew if Rez was railing her like that, she’d be hard-pressed to stay quiet.

Taint’s brow furrowed. “Why you askin’?”

“She’s the sister of a friend and she was with T-Bone the last time she was seen. Do you have any way to contact him? Her sister just wants to make sure she’s all right because my friend hasn’t heard a word from her and she’s worried.”

“That shit ain’t my business.” He locked eyes with hers while he continued to do his choppy thrusting. “And it ain’t yours, either.”

She put up her hands in surrender. “Just trying to help a friend. I’m sure you can understand that. I’m sure if Cookie disappeared, you’d be worried, too.”

“Wouldn’t give a shit if Cookie disappeared. Plenty of other bitches out there. And with tighter cunts. Like this one.” He smacked Sunny’s bare ass as hard as he could. The sharp slap reverberating through the office.

That had to sting.

“Wanna test yours out, too.”

Over my dead body. “Mine’s loose and floppy,” she assured him as she backed out of the office.

“Don’t know what you’re fuckin’ missin’,” she heard as she slammed the door shut.

Oh, she did.

She hurried down the hallway and out into the club’s main area. She needed a shot of vodka or two to wipe out both that scene and more than generous offer from her brain.

Chapter Thirteen

Rez caught movement near the red velvet rope used to block the entrance to the back hallway. Sapphire quickly skirted around the prospect stationed there. His assigned task was to keep customers from wandering into the back to harass the dancers.

Whether the prospect working that position tonight actually cared about the safety of the women or not, he didn’t know, since they sure seemed to leave it unattended often to go out back to deal drugs whenever they got a text.

The Pit was a regular druggy drive-through.

Finn noticed that particular pattern of behavior while undercover as Mel’s boyfriend back when she managed the club. That pattern continued.

The dark-haired beauty who made his blood rush had her eyes directed toward the bar as she hurried in that direction. Her complexion, even with the heavy stage makeup, was paler than normal, maybe even had a slight green tinge.

She didn’t notice him as he surged from his chair and moved to cut her off since she was lost deep in thought. His hackles rose when he realized something must have happened when she was in the back. And that something wasn’t good.

No surprise.

She needed to find a new fucking job. While it was convenient for the task force to have an “in” with a Peach Pit employee, it wasn’t worth risking her safety. They still had cameras set up around both the interior and exterior of the business. They could monitor the Demons’ activities from a safe distance.
