She nodded. “I try to stick close to the Demons so I can hear any chatter we can use against them. Plus, my goal is to find where they keep their stash as soon as I can. And on that note… I need to roll.”

Without waiting for a response, she headed toward the stairs.

“Cabrera…”

She stopped and glanced over her shoulder.

With hands on his hips, he had his mirrored sunglasses pointed toward her. “Be safe.”

She gave him an answering lift of her chin and continued on. She ended up waiting at the bottom of the stairs until she heard his Harley start.

That throaty rumble sent a little thrill through her.

Once she heard him ride away, she ran up and grabbed the car keys.

It was time to get to head to Hawg Wild for another fun and exciting night of dodging hands and hearing comments that were far from complimentary.

Chapter Twenty-Two

Crew blew out a relieved breath when he pulled Silver Foxy into the back lot and saw that the pool car had been returned. Once he parked his bike, he went over to the sedan and placed a hand on the hood.

Cold.

That meant she’d returned it a while ago and was now most likely home and asleep.

Hopefully she got out of Hawg Wild Saloon unscathed this time. Because if she had more bruises… Or worse…

He ground his teeth.

He hated her going undercover at that Demons-run bar without any safety net. He wasn’t even sure if she was going in there with her weapon since the clothes she wore wouldn’t hide shit.

As the group leader, he was responsible for her. He should pull her. It wasn’t like they didn’t have enough evidence already against the MC to ensure indictments on some of the major members.

Despite that, it would be better to put away as many as possible. The more put behind bars meant the less out there roaming free to continue trafficking drugs. Or pimping out meth-addicted women.

After reading through Cabrera’s daily reports carefully, he realized she had documented enough criminal activity in the first couple of nights working there to indict at least five more members of the Deadly Demons. Evidence he didn’t have before.

If she remained on that assignment, that number could grow.

Her notes also indicated she was searching for where the meth supply was kept in Hawg Wild’s supply room. Without getting caught, of course.

In truth, he had no good reason to pull her. By being there, she was doing her part to contribute to the investigation. If he pulled her, it wouldn’t be because she wasn’t doing the job, it would solely be because of him.

And his personal reasons wouldn’t be valid.

But that didn’t mean he couldn’t keep the fact the bar patrons were manhandling her as an ace in his back pocket, in case he needed it.

No matter what, he had to trust that she knew what she was doing and that she could handle any shit she received on her own.

As he hit the foot of the stairs, he glanced up and saw Nox coming out of the third floor. Crew bet he was about to go hibernate in his apartment.

He rushed up the steps to make sure to catch him before that happened.

He got to the second-floor landing at the same time Nox did, only Crew was a bit more out of breath from sprinting up the steps.

“How you doing?” he asked, trying not to wheeze while he did it. He made sure to stand in front of Nox’s apartment door so his brother couldn’t duck inside and get out of talking to him.

“I’m doing,” came the flat answer.

“Yeah? How’s the therapy going?”

“It’s going.”

“Nox, I don’t want to pry…”

“But you will anyway.”

“I just want to make sure you’re staying on track.”

“Whose track?”

“The right track. Is it helping at all?” Crew hoped to fuck it was.

Nox simply stared at him.

Crew raised his palms up. “I get it. You don’t want to talk about it. I just wanted to make sure you’re following the—”

“Ultimatum?”

“Plan,” Crew finished. “Brother, you know we all love you like family. We all have your six. This—”

“Ultimatum.”

“Plan was just another way of showing you how much we want you to be—”

“Sane?”

“Happy,” Crew finished. “Jesus. We know you’re not insane. But sometimes shit hits us harder than other times. Like my divorce.”

“Sasha’s still breathing.”

It would be easier for him if the woman wasn’t, but Crew kept that to himself. He really didn’t wish his ex-wife dead, he only wished she didn’t have it out for him, even all these years later.

“Still breathing fire, you mean. On that note, I have my kids this weekend. I might bring them by on Sunday, if anyone will be around downstairs. They’d probably like to see you.”

When his face softened, it was proof the man did love children. And all the BAMC kids loved him back, including the moody teens. They thought he was cool because he used to tell them stories from when he was in the Army.
