Griff’s hand gripped mine tighter in his and I could feel the emotion swelling between the two of us as we expressed our love to each other and all those surrounding us. I couldn’t have imagined a better way to join our two souls together but this simple but beautiful ceremony.

“Well then, Griff, do you take Remy Nelson to be your lawfully wedded wife?” the officiant asked.

“I do,” he answered and I slipped the gold band on his finger.

“And Remy—”

“I do!” I exclaimed excitedly.

Everyone around us laughed.

“Remy, do you take Griff to be your lawfully wedded husband?” the officiant finished with a knowing smile.

“I do, I do!” I repeated with tears in my eyes. Griff laughed and pushed my wedding band firmly into place next to my engagement ring.

“Then it is my pleasure to declare you both as man and wife! You may now kiss the bride!”

Everyone around us whooped and clapped. Griff lifted the delicate lace of my veil and stroked it back across my head before gazing down at me lovingly. Our first kiss as husband and wife was wonderfully sweet. Griff leaned down and kissed me gently. My heart skipped a beat at the touch. His lips were soft against my own and it barely did anything to satiate the lust I felt for him, though I already knew that would have to wait for later. When he pulled back, he wouldn’t stop smiling.

We both turned to look at our guests who were cheering us on. We smiled and waved at them and it was a memory I would cherish forever. Griff and I clung to one another as the boat continued its journey around the falls and we basked in each other’s warmth.

“I can’t believe you’re finally mine,” Griff whispered to me.

“It all feels like a dream,” I echoed.

“For once, Remy, this isn’t just a fantasy,” he replied. “No more of that. No more dreaming. This is real.”

I smiled. “And even if it is, I don’t ever want to wake up,” I told him as I rested my head on his shoulder. He reached around to hold me around my shoulders and I sighed happily.

After a full circuit of the falls, Griff and I headed inside the boat, beckoning our guests to follow us to the main room where the reception was already set up. The inside was decorated with cream and yellow furnishings while carnations of the same color sat atop every table. The caterers were busy in the kitchen cooking up our incredible menu and the smell alone was enough to make my stomach rumble.

Eventually, the party descended into dancing to the delightful music of the band we hired for the event, but not before Griff and I had started everyone off with our very first dance as a couple. He’d held me close and whispered sweet nothings in my ear as he whisked me around the room, the fabric of my skirt dancing as we moved. Isabelle was sat happily on Griff’s mother’s lap, preoccupied with her favorite toy in her podgy little hands.

“I’ve never been happier,” Griff told me as he swept me across the dance floor.

“Me either,” I whispered back and wrapped my arms tighter around me.

“I should have done this a long time ago,” Griff admitted.

I laughed. “I think this was the soonest we could have managed, Griff, don’t beat yourself up,” I told him with a shake of my head. “You’ve been so busy this last year with your new job at the Anderson Group it wouldn’t have been possible. Besides, we had to up and move all the way across the country! Oh and we did a tiny little thing called having a baby.”

Griff chortled and nodded. “You’re right, you’re right, it has been a busy year,” he acquiesced, “but that wasn’t what I meant.”

“Oh?” I replied, curious.

“I meant that I should have married you the very first day that you set foot in my office,” he explained with his eyes glued to my face. “Why didn’t you tell me then that you were the woman of my dreams? You would have saved us both a lot of hassle.”

I rolled my eyes and gave my best impression of a long-suffering sigh. “You bosses always expect your subordinates to do your dirty work for you. It’s not my fault that you were too dense to see what I was showing you right in front of your face,” I told him and stuck my tongue out at him childishly.

Griff let out a roar of a laugh. “As always, Mrs. Strong, you’re right. I always knew you were the brains in this operation.”

I smiled up at him. “Well, if I’m the brains, that makes you the heart.”
