A smile comes to my lips. “You know I won’t allow anything to happen to Ally?”

“I’m trying to trust you, but that girl means everything to me and Chloe. They both mean the world to me. You won’t have to worry about your father if something happens to one of them, so I hope you make good on your promises.”

I laugh into her neck and squeeze my arms around her. Again, I note that fierceness I love about her. I reach to brush a lock of hair behind her ear. It’s hard not to touch her in some way. Not stripping her bare to take her has been a battle in itself.

It’s been three days and I’ve shown restraint I didn’t know I had, but I’ll continue to as long as I can have moments like this.

She turns her head up and stares at me for a beat. I search her face, floored by her beauty.

“What are you thinking? You get this look in your eyes sometimes.”

“I’m thinking about how gorgeous you are. You make me want things I never knew I wanted. You toss everything I thought I knew about life out of the window,” I reply.

“Wow, you were thinking all of that?”

I chuckle. “Yes, I’m captivated by you.”

She palms the side of my face. “I’m becoming very intrigued by you.”

I lean in and take her lips, forcing myself not to reach into her shorts to play with her pussy. I want more than sex from Sidney. Otherwise, I would have pounded her ass into my bed days ago. Instead, I’m savoring the light she brings into my life.

She pulls away from the kiss. “You, Clay, are dangerous,” she says breathlessly.

I wink at her. “I’m harmless…until I’m not.”

Chapter 16

Unpredicted

Sidney

I wasn’t expecting all this. I’ve been with Clayton for two weeks and he keeps surprising me. All I mentioned was a restaurant in Vegas I’d heard about.

The next thing I knew, I was packing a bag to meet him after work. When David pulled up to the tarmac and I saw Clayton standing in front of the plane with the wind blowing through his hair, wearing a pink polo, light blue jeans and white sneakers, I was stunned.

Now here I am in Vegas, feeling like a pampered queen. Is this what being a kept woman is like? If it is, I wouldn’t mind living this life. I laugh at myself and sink deeper into the warm water.

I lift my arms up over my head and stretch, trying not to fall all the way into this big-ass tub. Sitting back up, I lift my leg to allow the water and bubbles to run down it. This place has brought me so much peace. I’ve barely stressed about anything going on back home.

Reaching for my glass of champagne, I drain the glass and hum happily. After a day of shopping and an amazing dinner, Clayton drew me a bath to relax. Last night when we arrived, I had no idea what to expect.

The man is so unpredictable. I didn’t expect him to drop everything so I could go to a restaurant I read about. Nor did I think he would dress up in the things I picked for him while shopping, but he went along with me asking him to model for me. Phew, the man can make anything look great.

“You okay in here?” I look up as his deep, rich voice pulls me from my thoughts.

He’s standing in the doorway in a pair of boxers with no shirt on. His long legs look so powerful. Oh, God, wait. Is that the tip of his penis peeking through the leg of his boxers? I look up at his face quickly.

The size of this man definitely matches the size of the heat he’s packing. His dick is as long and thick as he is and to think, that’s not even full-mast.

“Are you coming in?”

I enjoyed our bath time last time. I wouldn’t mind doing it again. However, I’m disappointed by his answer.

“I’m waiting on a few calls. I just wanted to check on you. Maybe next time.”

Right as my gaze falls back to his length, it twitches against the fabric. I bite my lip and reach to pour myself some more champagne. I can’t allow the romantic vibe of this place to cause me to lose focus.

None of this is real. We’re not dating, and this engagement will be over before I know it. When we return home, I’ll still be planning a fake wedding to help him get out of his tyrant father’s grasp.

Keep it together, Sid.

All my accounts have been restored. Now I need to know who’s after me and how to shut their asses down. That needs to be my main focus. Not Clayton.

Chapter 17

Couple Things

Clayton

A week later…

With each day that passes, I enjoy having Sidney in my space more and more. After our trip to Vegas, we’ve become more attuned to each other.
