“Okay. I’m sorry, Zane.”

“It makes me angry that you think that, but it also makes me happy that you expressed your anger, that you’re confident in our relationship to not simply take whatever scraps you’re given like you did in the past. To want to be my priority. And, baby, you are.”

I nodded, tears in my eyes.

“I would never cheat on you. Not with my body. Nor in my heart. All right?”

I nodded fast, tears spilling out.

He pulled me close and kissed me.

“I love you,” he said.

“I love you more,” I told him.

“More?” he asked.

I nodded.

“More than I love you? Is that what you mean?”

“Yes.” I nodded again.

“No, not true.” He looked angry.

“Zane, it’s supposed to be funny.” I chuckled, wiping my eyes.

“It’s not fucking funny.”

He was trying to pull away.

“This is a culture gap, thing, baby, wait. I was making a cute joke.”

He shifted to roll out of the bed.

“Zane!” I shouted and then I pounced to climb onto him and attempted to pin him to the bed.

He looked so angry. He could fling me off effortlessly if he wanted to, but thankfully, he didn’t. He glared at me.

“It’s cute. It’s supposed to be, I love you more.” And then I made my voice go deeper. “No. I love you more. And then I go, No way! I love youuuu more. It’s not meant like accusation.”

His expression was like stone.

“You don’t get it. Forget it.”

He scowled at me. “I don’t like fighting with you, little wife. About anything.”

“Okay,” I rolled off him, but he caught me and pulled me close.

“Okay, so you’re angry, but you wanna cuddle.”

“Yes,” he grunted.

“Okey dokey pokey.”

His mouth twitched.

I snuggled in.

“You’ll take me tomorrow?”

“Yes. We’re picking up Elaina on the way. And that’s final.”

“Okey dokey.”

He sighed.

“Pokey,” I added.

I felt his body shake with silent laughter. I couldn’t see his face, though, as I was smushed into his side, my face in his chest.

“That might not rhyme in your language.”

“It sounds like gibberish,” he stated.

I smiled against him and hoped he felt it.

“I love you,” I whispered.

“I love you more,” he grunted back.

He gets it.

“No way, Jose.”

“Who or what the fuck is hose-ay?”

I giggled.

He threw me over onto my back, hovered over me with a challenging look in his eyes that made my giggle die to a gulp, and then he slowly pulled my PJ pants down my legs.

I blinked, sliding a little with them. He hauled them off, pushed my knees up to my chest, freed himself from whatever bottoms he had on, either underwear, or lounge pants, I didn’t know, and then he rubbed his hard length along the seam of me.

“If ever you try to go to sleep angry at me, I promise to find a way to make you laugh like that,” he said softly and smiled at me.

“I promise to try not to go to sleep angry with you.”

“Good girl,” he said and then he slowly pushed inside of me, making my mouth drop into an O as he advanced, grabbing my hand and putting it between us, making me touch myself.

I took over as he leaned over and put his mouth to mine.

Elaina and I stood in front of the door together and she had a wry grin on her face, like she was looking forward to this. By her face, if we hadn’t talked on the way over, I’d be worried that she was determined to make the upcoming event unpleasant, but based on our conversation it was clear that she had no plans to strike first but every intention of striking back should the need arise.

I paid attention to the way she behaved with Zane on the way over and she was super-friendly but showed no interest in stealing my husband from me. He was no different than he always was with me and that made me feel like I’d definitely blown things out of proportion the day before due to my insecurities, which I had vowed to work on.

I rang the bell as Zane flew off. Quid would be driving me back to Zane afterwards at his office.

“Flying cars. Still not used to that,” I murmured.

“Nope. Never gets old. And I’ve been here a lot longer than you,” Elaina said.

Elaina Blackstar was tall, model height so not much shorter than a Phallyxian woman. She had very long light brown hair and a beautiful smile. Her eyes were dark brown and her darker complexion spoke of Mediterranean or Latina roots. I liked her a lot. Especially now that I was over my notion that my husband liked her more than he liked me. I allowed myself to actually open up to friendship.

Treya answered the door and smiled wide. “Hello, friends! Come on in. We’re waiting for you.”

She was wearing a baby pink pencil skirt that came to her mid-calf and perfectly matching high-heeled boots with a shimmering champagne-colored sparkly blouse. Her curly hair was over one shoulder and her makeup was perfect.
