Ollie Sr. and a man who looked remarkably like him were behind them. Uncle Brynn, I was guessing.

Lunaris and her husband Oslo were there as well. Lunaris and I had gotten to be friends and I’d started a book club with her and Elaina and had planned to invite Jen. Zane asked if it was an excuse to sit around and drink wine. I told him it would be when Elaina could have some again, but also an excuse to talk about books.

Speaking of which, I got myself in a little bit of trouble regarding my book-reading. We had a spat when he decided to try out a new scanning tool he was using to quickly translate English text to Phallyxian and he grabbed my e-reader one day to test it out. Without telling me.

He opened the reverse harem book my old work friend Maeve had picked for our very last book club collection. He blew his top thinking I wanted a relationship with three men instead of one. It took some time and reassurance to calm him down by explaining that fiction and fantasy in the book world had no bearing on my real life with my own real-life romance novel hero.

“You’re better than any book boyfriend I could read about, Zane.”

He was skeptical and then decided to prove to me that he could keep me satisfied, that I wouldn’t need two other men tag-teaming me with him, that I was lucky if I could handle him. This brought on a night with losing count of my orgasms. I guessed I wasn’t the only one who could be insecure in my relationship with my seemingly perfect husband.

I showed him my journal and asked him to use his tool to read it so he could see how I truly felt about him. He read just two or three pages when he pulled me close and laid a hot and heavy kiss on me, showing me I was forgiven for reading about reverse harems.

Elaina held up a garment bag. “Okay, every man out. We need to get this bride ready to walk down the aisle.”

“Are you happy?” Ollie asked.

“I’m so happy,” I told him, bending over to kiss him.

And then I looked up into the eyes of my hot alien husband. “This is a lovely surprise.”

He winked and kissed me. “I’ll see you there.”

Zane’s father dashed up to give me a hug and introduce me to his brother who enveloped me in a big hug, lifting me off my feet. And then it was just me, Jetta, Elaina, and Lunaris.

“Wait until you see this beautiful dress Zane had Orvand make for you. I have everything you need.”

I was in awe of the sight of myself in the mirror. The dress I wore was the most delicate, beautiful garment I had ever laid eyes on.

It was white, gauzy, and had an insanely long train. The entire dress shimmered with crystal details and a combination of embroidered subtle blush pink and mint green flower designs as well as actual flowers sewn through the train, including a few pale orange moonflower petals from the flowers from our actual house. The lining was deep purple, and it felt amazing. I was told that Orvand finished it last night, dipping the flower petals in a substance that would preserve them. This wasn’t a gawdy floral dress. It was truly the most beautiful dress I’d ever seen. I felt like a princess. The shoes were a satin brocade with more flower petals and gems and I wore a white two-piece merry widow style negligee underneath as well as stay-up glittery nude stockings with a shimmer to them that added to the whole ensemble.

“This feels like a Disney wedding,” I exclaimed. Jetta explained to Lunaris what that meant, and we promised to do a girls’ night with our favorite Disney princess movies. Lunaris did my hair in a traditional Phallyxian style with just the top pulled back and woven with flowers and jewels that graced the back of my head and through the length of my hair. Elaina did my makeup.

The girls wore similarly styled gowns but with much fewer embellishments and theirs were pink, like the waterfalls, and without the gorgeous purple lining that you caught a hint of when I walked.

We left the lavish hotel with bodyguards. I didn’t know where they’d come from but was told that Zane had arranged it. We were walked down the main street with a path cleared for us. It was mostly men on the not-so-busy main street leading to the waterfalls from the hotel.

As dusk settled in, we came to the waterfalls and I saw Zane, standing there looking breathtaking in a black tuxedo. An Earth style tuxedo. The only difference? Jewels that matched my dress colors on his collar and in his bowtie.
