Her breath hitched again, and she moaned before giving me a short nod and whispering, “Yes. Gods, yes.”

It was the sweetest fucking torture to know that my mate had never found this type of pleasure. To know that I was the one giving it to her right now.

“Let go, Ainslee,” I growled, a rough vibration that rumbled out of my chest. “And when you feel that peak, my female, I want you to take from me.” I tipped my head to the side and started sucking at her pulse point, my jugular right in front of her mouth, her warm breath bathing it. “Let go for me.” The words were a demand out of me, ones that I wanted to be obeyed.

And as I ground myself against her harder, held her closer, heard her breathing increase, I knew she’d give me exactly what I wanted.

Her nails pierced my flesh, her mouth now pressed to my skin. She parted her lips, her tongue stroking over my jugular as she moaned continuously. I groaned at how good that felt, knowing that if I didn’t control myself I’d spill my seed and this would end far too soon.

But the very thought of marking her that way, having my cum soak through my pants and smear along her belly, turned me on so much that my balls drew up, my impending orgasm right at the surface.

“Oh. Luca,” she half-whispered, half-moaned. Her voice was so low that I barely heard her. “I’ve never felt anything like this.”

And then she stiffened in my arms, and I had both hands now cupping her ass, rocking her lower body up and down on my shaft.

“That’s it. Yeah, that’s so fucking it, my female.”

And then she gave me what I’d been craving my entire existence.

She gave me her first release.

She cried out at the same time I growled, “Drink from me.” And then she pierced my flesh, drawing from me. I gnashed my teeth together and threw my head back, roaring out. I was careful with my actions so that her mouth stayed latched onto me.

I wasn’t even orgasming and the pleasure was unlike anything I could’ve ever imagined. Her little cries, the way she lapped at the puncture wounds, sucked down my blood, was so erotic that I knew when I finally claimed her it would be heaven.

She broke away far too soon, dragging her tongue along the marks, causing a shudder to leave my body. Ainslee rested her forehead on my shoulder, gasping for air, trembling slightly in my arms.

“That was… unexpected.”

I chuckled, the first time I’d done it in centuries. Gods, it felt incredible to feel happiness and… peace. For so long, I’d only felt the darkness of my own pain.

I wrapped my arms around her tiny waist and whispered, “Îngeraș.” Little angel.

That’s what she was to me.

When she pulled back and looked at my face, my eyes were focused on her mouth, at where my blood smeared across her bottom lip and slightly along her chin. I leaned in and dragged my tongue across it, tasting our combined essences.

Mine!

I could have gotten lost in her blue eyes, but I felt my wolf stir once more.

The hairs on the back of my neck straightened. My skin felt tight. My senses came alive in all the ways that roared out one thing.

They’ve come.

I knew this had been coming, and my rage grew, not just because they’d try—and fail—to keep Ainslee from me, but because they’d interrupted this sacred moment I just shared with my mate.

They’d fucking pay for that.

I was ready for a fight—for this fight.

I was ready to show that I could take care of my mate, that I’d level anyone and anything that tried to separate us. It would be an ugly battle, but the anticipation hummed in my blood like an addiction.

I stepped away from Ainslee and pulled her behind the protection of my back.

“Luca?” she whispered with worry and fear in her voice.

I had an arm behind me and curled around her small frame. “They won’t take you from me.” The words were low, just for me, this mantra I told myself over and over again as if it would make it a reality.

“Please,” she whispered. “Let me speak with them. I can make them see you’d never hurt me.” She clutched at the back of my shirt. Everything in me wanted to give in, to give Ainslee whatever she wanted.

I didn’t bother telling her it wouldn’t do any good at this point. Even if they saw the bone-deep truth that I’d never harm my mate, her being with me now, and me about to destroy anyone who came close to her, would solidify their aggression and have this going forward with war.

I tightened my hand around Ainslee’s waist, keeping her in place. I slowly let a grin of anticipation spread across my face just as I faced forward and watched as some big motherfucking Lycans stepped out of the shadows and into the moonlight.
