Killian stopped worrying about the future, and focused on now. On making love to his mate, taking the pain away, and to finally make it a good feeling. That was all he wanted to do.

Slowly, he began to work his cock deep inside her, hearing her subtle moans as he did this. Her pussy was incredibly tight and she squeezed him. He pulled up from the bed, letting go of her hands but keeping his cock deep inside her. Reaching between them, he began to stroke her clit, taking his time, feeling her pussy answer the call of his fingers.

Killian would finally pump her full of his cum, but only when she had come. He needed to replace those horrible pain-filled sounds with ones of pleasure.

“Killian?”

“Come for me, beautiful. Let me hear you come for me.”

“I … don’t—”

“You will!” He wouldn’t find his own release until she did.

He loved looking at her. Tits bouncing with each touch and her cunt was so fucking perfect. Everything about this woman was a dream come true to him.

Just that pesky witchy problem.

Chapter Eight

Leah stared across the bathtub at her mate.

Killian had mated with her. She found it hard to think about anything else. From the bite on her neck, she felt different. She didn’t know how exactly to describe it, but it was like she was no longer alone. Not that she’d been alone all that much.

Sure, she had the horrible problem of being a powerful witch, who came into her powers way too early to control, so rather than grow up around people, she grew up around a coven. She turned out normal.

“What’s going on in that pretty head, Leah? Killian asked.

“Nothing, I guess I’m a little surprised.” She stopped as he placed his hands on her knees. Every time he touched her, her body seemed to go into a new kind of overdrive. All she could think about was how painful his first initial entrance into her body had been, but then the memories were easily replaced with what came soon after. The pain didn’t last. It was nothing more than a blip on her radar.

“What are you surprised about?”

“You mated me.”

He gave her a smile but it didn’t quite reach his eyes.

“You’re not happy that you mated me?” she asked. “Did your wolf take over and do the whole mating thing?” She wasn’t going to think about the slice of pain shooting through her chest at the thought of him not wanting her. She was getting used to his constant rejection. She could handle anything.

“I am happy, Leah, very, very happy.”

“But you’re still worried about that prophecy you were told?”

“Wouldn’t you be concerned if your coven’s fate rested on that of a wolf’s?”

She wrinkled her nose. “Not really, you see, the thing is about prophecies is they’re subjective to whoever cast them.”

“How do you mean?”

“Simple, some prophecies are told by spiteful witches. I’ve seen them. They don’t have any ability to see into the future, but they have convinced people they can, and ta-da, they look into their mind’s eye and see the future. A future that can play out purely because someone believes every single word and goes out of their way to reenact the entire scenario.”

“And what about the ones that are truthful?” he asked.

Leah groaned. “Again, the future is always changing. We go through many different challenges in our life, and there can be multiple outcomes for the exact same event.”

“Explain.”

“Nothing is written in stone. You come to a crossroads in your life, and you can go four ways. Left, right, forward, or even backward. All four of those outcomes would be susceptible to potentially four different fates.” She shrugged.

“But what if there are only two outcomes?” Killian asked. “What if left and right have the same outcome as backward and forward?”

“Yeah, and the likelihood of that happening is slim, but what you also must take into account is the potential challenges each element faces. If you go backward, you might reach the same goal as forward, but because you took a backward step, it might take you twice as long to achieve the same goal unless you took a giant leap of faith. Then, of course, it could be that going backward and forward takes you down risky and sometimes dangerous areas, and if you’d come out of the junction, turned right, you’d have found a more enjoyable and fun-filled path.” She offered another shrug. “Life is messy, Killian. It’s not as easy as thinking we all have one set path.”

She gasped as his hand moved up her thigh and then touched her pussy.

“What you’re saying is if I take a chance on our mating, give you and me a fighting chance, then I could choose the path of happiness?” he asked.

“You could forget about the prophecy. You don’t know what witch will be your undoing. By rejecting me, you possibly put your pack at risk, because I’m not there to protect you.”
