I’m ending this conversation now. Be there on Monday morning.
Bffr bruh tell me who wins
I closed my phone and shook my head at Colton Wright, adding him as a contact. It was interesting to learn multiple things from that conversation. He was super bright when he applied himself to his interests. He had interests. He’d probably played soccer back in New York. And he was too goddamn observant.
Also, he wasn’t wrong.
Where exactly was the beautiful woman that I couldn’t stop texting?
“Hey, you,” a voice said behind me.
I whipped around to find Eve dressed in her Tacos uniform. The red T-shirt, sponsored by Wright Vineyard, and Adidas soccer shorts with a bag slung over her shoulder and her indoor shoes in her hand.
“You’re on time.”
She snorted. “I’m never late for soccer.”
“I see where your priorities are.”
“Some of us enjoy our hobbies more than our job,” she teased. Her hand came to the front of my black polo and traced the buttons. “Look at you. No tie.”
“I can dress down,” I told her with an arched eyebrow. “I have lounge shorts.”
Pink tinted her cheeks, and I relished even the slightest blush on her tan skin.
“Fair.”
“Come on, bish,” Blaire said, slinging her arm across Eve’s shoulders. “We have a tournament to dominate.”
“Hell yes,” Eve said. She winked at me. “See you after.”
My eyes followed her the entire way onto the field, where she’d get ready and warm up. My cock wondering exactly what we were going to be doing later. How quickly could I get her naked after this?
“What the fuck was that?” West asked.
Nora had followed the girls onto the field to play the game, leaving us all alone.
“What was what?”
“You and Eve. I thought that was over months ago.”
I shrugged. I didn’t have to say anything for my brother to know exactly what was happening. And I wasn’t ready to discuss it with him anyway. I wasn’t sure what we even were at this point. All I knew was that I’d bent until I broke, and I’d do it over and over again for this girl.

Eve
We won the first game five–nil and the second game two–nil, which put us in the championship match on Sunday afternoon. My legs felt like they’d been run over. After nearly a hundred eighty minutes of continuous play, I was surprised that I could still stand.
“I need a shower,” Julian said.
Hollin cackled, shaking out his long hair, raining sweat down on the rest of the players.
“Gross, Hollin!” Annie said, smacking him on his sweaty chest. “I do not understand how Piper puts up with you.”
“She doesn’t,” Julian said. “She puts him in his place.”
“Fucker,” Hollin said. He grabbed Julian by the neck and mussed his hair, which had somehow stayed perfectly in place the entire two games.
“Hey!” Julian roared.
And then the two were on the ground, wrestling. Like idiots.
I looked up at Annie, Nora, and Blaire. We all shook our heads and promptly left the guys to their stupid behavior. I stripped out of my T-shirt, dropping it into my bag and stretching my arms overhead.
“Pizza?” Annie asked.
“I could go for a very large cold beer,” Blaire said.
“You’re such a pick-me,” Annie teased.
Blaire stuck her tongue out at her as she slid on her signature baseball cap. “You’re lucky I love you.”
“Should I even ask what the fuck Hollin is doing?” Piper asked when she reached us.
“Wrestling,” Nora offered. “They’re guys. I still don’t know what to make of him, and he’s my brother.”
“Bless you,” Blaire said with a laugh, patting Piper’s shoulder.
“I’m going to kill him,” Piper muttered under her breath.
“What about you, Eve?” Blaire asked. “Pizza?”
“Definitely.”
Even though I’d never been the silent type a day in my life, I still sometimes couldn’t believe that I fit in here with these girls. That I could just settle in here and it all made sense. I didn’t even have to join in the conversation as it flowed seamlessly around me. I wasn’t a speed bump. It was the best feeling.
“Turn the Jeep on; it’s a thousand degrees out there,” Piper said, tossing Blaire the key to the car we’d all driven over in.
“Take more than ten minutes, and I’m driving.”
Piper’s eyes rounded. “You wouldn’t dare.”
Blaire cackled and dashed for the entrance. I shook my head at the theatrics, but I wasn’t upset about it. Every second like this was a win in my book.
I came upon the rest of our friends. Nora was already making arrangements for everyone to meet at our chosen spot, Capital Pizza. Whitt’s hand landed on the small of my back, and a shiver coursed through me. I’d been playing it cool all week. Too busy to see him. I could have run over for a booty call, but I wasn’t sure exactly where we stood on that. He’d given in one night. Would he do it again?
