But it seemed that Colby was done. He surged forward, clutching the back of my neck with his hand, staring into my eyes with the force of a thousand suns. “You stop right there,” he hissed. “You say or even think that there is anything on this world that can make you less fuckin’ beautiful, that will make me stop wantin’ you, you’re goddamn mistaken.”

I fought against the burn behind my eyes as tears threatened. No fucking way I’d let them fall. It would throw this whole plan off.

Colby searched my eyes. “But, baby, I can’t have our first time being … this.”

I wanted to scream. “We’re not fucking virgins, Colby. And the absolute last thing I need you to be doing is turning me into some fucking Madonna or putting me on a pedestal, hyping our first time to be something special like we’re teenagers on goddamn prom night.”

Colby ran his hand through his hair. “Jesus Christ, Sariah. I’m not doing this. You’ve got some other motive here.”

Fuck him for knowing me too damn well.

“Stop trying to be the good guy.”

His forehead wrinkled. “I’m not the fuckin’ good guy, Sariah.”

“Yeah, despite the cut, the club and the bike, you are. I won’t tell your secret,” I rolled my eyes. “But you are. You came in and saved the day. You sat by my hospital bed. You’ve been here every night. And now, when you’ve got the chance to get what you’ve wanted from me for months, you’re saying no. Because you think you’re taking advantage of me. All good guy traits.”

His eyes bore into me as his nostrils flared.

“When we found out where you were, when we got to the location he was holding you in,” his words were sharp, saturated in fury. “I didn’t go to you first. I went to him. My first thought was vengeance, not your well-being. That’s not a good guy trait.” His words dripped with disgust. In himself. He’d been holding onto this. Letting it rot inside of him. Blaming himself.

He was trying to turn me off with that little story. I didn’t know if it would’ve worked with another woman or not. It didn’t matter. I wasn’t any other woman.

I was done with this argument. And words weren’t working, so it was time for me to use my wiles.

I slipped the dress off my shoulders, shimmying out of it so it pooled at my feet.

Colby let out a harsh breath as his eyes ran over me. This time, the hunger in his gaze wasn’t fleeting. No, it stayed.

My nipples pebbled as my body battled between natural desire and manufactured shame and fear.

Between who I had been—a sexual person. One who gave into my desires without shame and at will.

And who he turned me into. Someone uncomfortable in her own skin. Unable to look at herself in the mirror, to shower without underwear.

“Don’t you see?” I whispered. “I need you inside of me. I need my mind occupied by memories of something other than … him. I can’t have the last time a man touched me be like that. Can’t let my body be a graveyard.”

Colby jerked then. Jerked like I’d struck him.

I hadn’t meant to play dirty. Fuck, I hadn’t even meant to say that, but I was getting desperate and really fucking vulnerable, standing in my underwear.

Colby relented then, tagging the back of my neck with his hand and forcing our mouths together.

The kiss wasn’t gentle, and I was glad about that.

I violently kissed him back , with need, not hesitating to jump up and wrap my legs around his waist.

Colby palmed my ass, pressing our bodies closer together and showing me just how into me and my lingerie he was.

I let out a groan of pleasure as the scant fabric of my panties rubbed against the hard denim.

We both moved quickly. Hungrily. Desperate for one another.

This had been a long time coming, after all.

Plus, fast was good, very good. No time to think about things.

He didn’t stop kissing me while walking to my bedroom, and I didn’t stop grinding myself against him. My skin was on fire, my mind desperate to clutch onto my desire, to focus on the feel of Colby’s hands, mouth and cock … nothing else.

Colby kept kissing me as he laid me down on the mattress.

I mewed in protest as he stood up, looking down at me with piercing whisky eyes.

“Take your clothes off,” I ordered.

A vein in his neck pulsed. “Your wish is my command.”

He whipped off his tee then made quick work of his jeans and motorcycle boots. I wanted to revel in the defined abs, the sculpted muscles, the tattoos covering his body. But reveling took time. Time I didn’t have.

I lifted my hips and hooked the edges of my panties, pulling them down quickly and efficiently before tossing them across the room.
