He knew as well as I did that it didn’t work like that, but as long as he was game, I’d trust him to let me know if it was too much.

“We can’t just focus on her pleasure, though,” Raphael said.

“The hell we can't,” Flynn snapped.

“I just meant, we’ve got to be extra careful of her leg. That’s our absolute top priority—making sure we don’t hurt it.”

“Right,” I agreed. “The doctor could possibly deem her ready for a smaller cast at her next appointment. We don’t want to do anything to mess that up.”

“So we won’t.” Flynn drained the last drops of his beer and set the bottle down. “We good?”

“Yes,” I said, and Raphael nodded.

“Then I guess I’ll see you on date night.” He chuckled as he jogged down the deck stairs and disappeared into the night.

I looked back to find Raphael staring at me with a crooked smile. “That had to be the strangest family council ever,” he said.

“Yep.”

“Although Friday night might be so awkward that it makes tonight look tame by comparison.”

“It could be. On the other hand, it might be awesome.”

“Here’s hoping,” my brother-in-law said.

Hope.

That was a pretty damn good thing to have.

Wow. Raphael, Spencer, and Flynn cleaned up good. Very good. All through our meal, I kept sneaking peeks at them. Spencer had gone with a classic black suit. It was likely one he wore to work somedays, but he’d put it over a steel-gray, silky back button-down and a dark tie. The entire effect made him look sexy but unfamiliar, like some high-end male model. It made me want to nibble on him instead of the food Raphael had picked up from an Italian restaurant in town.

Raphael looked good enough to eat, too. His suit was in a medium gray, also paired over a dark shirt and tie. He’d fixed his hair differently, also. I couldn’t quite put my finger on how it was different, but I sure as hell wanted to run my fingers through it—and all over him. Especially now, as he expertly wielded his fork to twirl his pasta. I was having so much fun watching the guys that I kept forgetting to eat my own food.

Plus, my stomach was doing nervous flip-flops about what might happen after dinner.

Of the three of them, Flynn looked the most unlike his usual self. He smelled different, too. He’d shaved and had on actual cologne. It was something primal and spicy—kind of like him. He had on a black blazer over a black t-shirt, skin-tight jeans, and work boots. His outfit wasn’t as fancy as the others’, but the overall effect was hot as hell.

I was still having a little trouble believing that all three of these incredible men wanted me tonight. It was hard to wrap my head around. But the looks they gave me, and the random touches, told me it was true.

I felt like the luckiest woman in the world even considering I’d been hit by a car two weeks ago.

I wasn’t sure if my outfit was fancy enough to be seen with three hot-as-sin men, but then again, no one was supposed to see us. The twins were gone. Nana was still recuperating in the assisted living center. It was just us.

Besides, in the candlelight, I thought I saw more than one hungry glance my way. I’d put on my favorite of the new dresses I’d bought. It was a deep blue that I hoped brought out the hue of my eyes. Yesterday, I’d begged Raphael to go back to my apartment, and now I had my favorite jewelry dangling from my ears, fingers, and neck. I’d done my makeup very carefully and even shaved my legs—well, just the good leg. It had been a difficult and painful process, but now I was glad I had.

“You’re not eating,” Spencer said.

“Surely you’re not going to claim that the Alfredo sauce has too much Cajun heat?” Raphael teased, and I smiled. It was delicious—but my attention was split between the gorgeous men down here and the king-sized bed upstairs.

“It’s good. I’m just…”

“Nervous?” Spencer suggested.

“Excited?” Raphael asked.

“Overwhelmed by the hot dudes in their fancy duds?” Flynn added.

My lips curved into a smile. “All of the above.”

After dinner, we sipped wine in the cool night air. As the breeze swept over my skin, it felt like a preview of what was to come except that soon, instead of cool air, it would be warm hands on me.

Tension grew between us, and I knew the moment I’d been thinking of for forty-eight hours straight would soon be here. But then I took another sip of my wine and forced myself to relax. There were three men here, all older and more experienced than me. It was true this was a new situation for all of us, but the desire in their eyes told me that they had a plan.
