“Oh my way,” she called out cheerfully. She smiled broadly as she opened the door and then it quickly faded away. “Carter,” she gasped.

“That’s right, Carter. Weren’t expecting to see me here, were you?”

“How did you find me?” she asked, her heart pounding against her chest.

“I got a phone call. Some guy said you were fucking around with some local loser. Is that true, Jo? You fucking around on me?”

“What I’m doing is none of your business. You need to leave,” she said, attempting to close the door in his face, but he got his foot wedged inside, pushing his way in.

Jo groaned as he pushed her against a nearby wall and held her there, his fingers digging into her cheeks as he pinched her face painfully in one hand. She tried to speak, but her words were garbled due to the way he had her jaws pinned in his grip.

“Did you really think you could just run off in my car and abandon it without me looking for you? You know how embarrassing it is to have your wife run off on you like that,” he spat at her.

Jo struggled to free herself, but she was no match for him. He was dangling her against the wall like a helpless rag doll. It was the first time she had honestly believed he might hurt her. It had never occurred to her that he would bother to make a trip all the way from New Jersey to find her. Why? Was he just too prideful to let it all slide?

The realization struck fear in her like never before. He had gone mad. All this time she had thought she was safely away from him, he had been seething, losing his shit about her abandoning him.

“You look like you might be ready to go out. Were you going somewhere, Jo? You got a date with that man of yours? Going to let him buy you a steak and then bury his cock in my pussy? You know it’s still mine, right? I’m your husband. I own that sweet little box of yours. It might not be good for making babies, but it was always fun to fuck.”

Jo felt ill. He disgusted her. She gasped as he let go of her face and let her slip down the wall, jerking her by the arm down the hallway, looking into the rooms they passed until they reached the den.

“Have a seat, bitch,” he told her.

“No,” she replied, attempting to run out.

Carter yanked her backward, sending her skidding along the hardwood floor and then pulling her upward to slam her into one of the high backed chairs. She watched as he pulled a Glock free from the small of his back. If she hadn’t been so frightened, she would have found his mimicking of a movie thug laughable.

“I think I’ll have a drink,” he told her, laying the gun on the drink cabinet and pouring himself a scotch.

She watched him as she turned and leaned against it, a demented smile spreading across his face.

“You didn’t answer me. You got a boy toy coming over? I wonder if he’ll want to take us both to lunch? Does he know you got a husband?”

“I don’t have a boyfriend or anything like that. You need to leave now, and I won’t press charges against you for assault.”

He seemed to find this funny as he picked up the gun, waving it around haphazardly as he spoke.

“Oh, I don’t think you’ll be calling anyone. I’m going to wait right here for whoever is coming by and then I’m going to put a bullet in his crotch. He can watch me fuck my wife in front of him while he bleeds out. I might even let him live to remember what that felt like and suffer not having the ability to fuck anyone else’s wife. I haven’t decided.”

“You’re sick. That’s just sick,” she screamed at him.

“Oh, you’ve no idea. I was always kind to you. Handled you with kid gloves. You’re going to get a whole different side of the old hubby now and I’m going to take you back to New Jersey with me, kicking and screaming. You’ll be obedient when I’m done with you.”

“Never,” she spat.

“Ah, never say never, sweetheart. You’re going to love what I have in store for you. I’ve made all the arrangements for your safe accommodation. A room with no windows. Soundproof, so only I will hear you scream. It’s going to be glorious.”

Jo said nothing. She felt cold, chilled to the bone. He was stark raving mad and planned on taking her hostage. She’d rather die than leave here with him. He sipped his drink and leered at her. She tried a new tactic, smiling back at him.

“You’re right, Carter. I shouldn’t have run. I don’t know what I was thinking. I’ve missed you horribly. Let’s just put the gun down and talk about this. We can go upstairs if you want, like the old days.”
