“Hey, Will, Dad told me to bring this to you. Said you could use it.”

“Thanks. Really?” I’m surprised he handed me a beer so soon.

“Yeah, you look tense. Could it have anything to do with my friend and coworker?” she says, tipping her head in Mel’s direction. “She’s sweet and totally has a super crush on you, although you already know that. Everyone does—well, except her dad, because Beast would probably lose it. Anyway,” she adds in a long, drawn-out sigh, “I’m going to go over there. Let me know if you need any help talking to her.”

“She’s too young for me. We can’t have an actual relationship.”

“Please.” She rolls her eyes. “You’re three years apart, and you’re both ridiculously mature and lame.” She pats my chest and walks away. I shake my head and drink my beer with a chuckle. Just then, my eyes make contact with the woman in question, and my heart nearly stops. I give her a wink, and a blush steals over her pale skin.

I hold my drink to my lips without taking a sip, watching her over the bottle. God, she’s grown up to be so beautiful. My eyes never leave her as Melanie Brandon talks to the group of friends and cousins in the corner of the yard where the many Steele Riders and families have gathered. She stands out amongst the girls, as if the sun creates a spotlight right on her long black hair, illuminating her beauty.

I swallow hard, taking a long swig of my now-warm beer as I think about taking her back to my apartment and stripping her out of that tight little yellow sundress that barely kisses her knees that I want to part as I lick my way up to her soft, warm slit, marking it with my tongue until she’s screaming my name.

“Will.” Beast claps my shoulder, catching me by surprise, and I nearly choke on my beer. “How’s it going?” Of all the people to come up to me while I’m obsessing over his daughter. “Looking forward to your final year?”

I take another swig, trying to make it look like I’d been mid drink when he interrupted my light stalking. “Yeah.” I swallow.

“Girls?” he asks, brow jerking upward in the familiar way that normally sends people backward in the courtroom. He isn’t the typical attorney people expect when they come across the great DA Brandon.

“Not really dating,” I answer, trying to sound as noncommittal as possible, hoping to keep my feelings from showing for a little while longer.

“Why not?” Thankfully there’s no accusation, but I’m still uncomfortable about his line of questioning because I’d just been considering all the ways I want to make his daughter scream my name in every inch of my apartment, my dick throbbing painfully in my jeans.

“I’m focused on my education,” I answer.

“Good man. It’s better to get it out of the way. Right now, girls are a waste of your time.” Is he fucking on to me? He has to be, because that tone screams a warning from a mile away.

I need a distraction, an interruption or some shit because I’m already on edge when it comes to Melanie, and this isn’t making it any easier. My dick has been half hard since I walked in, then seeing her sent it into full staff. Luckily it was tucked neatly, mostly hidden, but now her father is interrogating me about my sex life.

Looking for an exit, I turn and see my mother having trouble carrying a large tray. I rush away without a word, but his eyes follow me so I’m sure he understands.

“Thanks, Son,” my father says, coming from behind with another set of trays. “She doesn’t listen to me.”

“I was trying to be helpful,” she insists, being stubborn as always, which my father both loves and hates. He worries about her safety all the time.

“There are forty other men here who could have carried the food out after all you women did the damn cooking, Tigress.” He swats her ass, and Beast comes up beside his wife, who starts unwrapping the food.

“Nice save, Will,” Beast says.

“He’s got sharp eyes and will make a great leader one day,” my father says. He keeps hinting about my interest in taking over the club. He’s worried that my years in college will deter me from becoming the president of his corporation on top of the Steele Riders, but I let him sweat it out. My degree is only to further the club and the business. College will get the police and the Feds off our backs. If we represent ourselves as more law-abiding, college-educated citizens, they tend to let us be. Granted, they have over the years, but when my parents were younger, they did attract a lot of attention. On occasion, they still do.
