Seconds after her scream fills the bedroom, we hear, “Dada” on the baby monitor.
“Fuck me.” I smile against the side of her neck. “Your mini-me has perfect timing.”
“You said you wanted them to all look just like me.” my wife reminds me.
“Yeah, but I didn’t realize I’d end up with three more little spitfires who look and act just like their mother.”
“You know what they say.” My wife smirks as she watches me pull on my sweatpants. “Be careful what you wish for.”
“Right now, I’m wishing for a son or two to even things out,” I tell her as I walk out the bedroom door, heading to our two-year-old’s room. Hopefully, Mae will be satisfied with one extra story tonight.
“You’re one brave man to ask for more.” My wife’s laughter follows me down the hall.
Eight months later, I get exactly what I asked for. Two boys who look just like me. The similarity ends there, and I end up with a full house of little ones with my gorgeous spitfire’s personality. Life couldn’t get any better.
