There’s still no news on Lucien and while my head is telling me that he’s holed up somewhere in hiding, I can’t help that bad feeling that sits in the bottom of my gut, warning me that he’s close.

Slade doesn’t want to be here, not like this at least. His eyes have been on the door ever since the party started. He watches every window and is constantly walking up and down the hall, checking the bedrooms and keeping me safe. Damian has been the same, watching the backdoor and constantly checking the yard, but he’s never met the guy. I doubt he has any idea who or what he’s looking for but when you come face to face with evil, you just know.

Nessa leans around me and grabs the bottle of Vodka that all the girls have been taking advantage of. “Come on,” she says. “After destroying Rachel like that and putting up with all this Lucien shit, you should have a drink.”

I shake my head. “No way. The last two times I drank didn’t pan out well for me. I’m keeping a straight mind until all of this bullshit is over, but I swear, the second he’s locked up, I’m going to party like it’s the end of the world.”

“I’m going to hold you to that,” she says, uncapping the Vodka and taking a swig.

“Good. I’m counting on it.”

Nessa groans and takes another swig before grumbling under her breath. “Incoming.”

My brows furrow and I glance up, following her line of sight to find Damian making his way over here, his eyes locked heavily on Nessa’s and within seconds, I know that this is it. I grin wide, feeling proud of the little twat burger.

Nessa starts to scoot to the edge of the counter, ready to jump down and make a run for it, but I latch onto her, knowing she needs this just as much as he does. “Hey, what gives?” she demands, glancing down at where my fingers curl around the belt loops of her jeans. “Let me go.”

I shake my head. “Just hear him out, okay?”

She lets out a sigh and as Damian gets too close to make a run, she scoots back onto the counter. “I guess I don’t have a choice,” she says as Damian steps up to the counter and squeezes his way between her legs, placing his hands down on either side of her thighs.

He looks up at her and the adoration shines brightly in his eyes as her tough exterior begins to crumble and she becomes putty in his hands. “I’m done fucking around, Nessa,” he declares, not once taking his eyes off hers. “I want you.”

My heart races watching him finally going after what he wants and damn it, I even have butterflies. There’s nothing better than someone fighting for what they want.

Nessa shakes her head. “I’m not about to fuck you in Blake’s bed while he’s stuck in the hospital with pins holding his leg together.”

“As much as I’d like that, that’s not what I’m referring to and you know it.” He leans in closer, getting right in her face, so close that all she would have to do is lean in a bit and her lips would be on his. “I want you, Nessa. Every bit of you. I don’t just want your body, I want your fucking heart. I want to wake up next to you in the mornings and be the guy you go running to when your day has gone to shit. You’re my girl and it’s about time we both admit it. I’m not running from this.”

She sucks in a breath, her eyes darting between his. “Are…I mean, are you sure?”

He smiles as though she’s the sweetest thing he’s ever seen. “How could I not be sure? I’ve been wanting you for months. You’re all that goes through my head. Every fucking minute of every fucking hour. I want you, Hera. I want you to be my girl.”

Her chest rises and falls as I feel a strong body press in beside mine, hands curling around my waist and his breath against my neck. “What’s going on?” Slade questions, nodding toward Damian and Nessa who seem to be in some sort of trance.

“He’s finally doing something about it,” I explain, leaning into him to keep our conversation private. “He told me that he loves her.”

Slade’s brows shoot up into his hairline. “No shit?” he says in surprise. “And you believed him?”

I nod. “I did. You didn’t see his face. He meant every damn word.”

“Well, fuck…”

“Yeah, now shut up. If I miss any of this, I’m going to be pissed.”

Slade rolls his eyes and as I focus back on Nessa and Damian, I find them still staring, Nessa deep in thought as she watches Damian with his heart on his sleeve. “You’re going to hurt me,” she finally whispers, finally saying her biggest fear out loud and making pain flash across Damian’s face.
