He covers my mouth, trying to stifle the sounds and I accidentally bite him, my body so out of control with sensation.

This does something to him, obviously, because his eyes flash like liquid emeralds shining with light and he growls again and attacks my mouth, grabbing my face and thrusting his tongue into my mouth.

Whimpering around his tongue, I pull back and grab his face with both hands and stare deep into his eyes.

“Riley, please, try to-”

He roars out the rest of this orgasm, then punches the wall directly over the headboard.

I was going to ask him to try to relax.

23

Riley

“Try to-” she starts to say, but halts when my fist crunches into drywall above her head.

And now she’s trembling.

I feel like an asshole.

I hear hammering outside the room. What the fuck is Ty doing out there?

I squeeze my eyes tight and blow out long breaths as regret swims through me.

“Maybe… he… um…”

I try to let go of the tension in my body and meet her gaze under me.

Her hair is all over the pillows. She looks so fuckin’ pretty it hurts. And when this little witch comes, fuck me, she’s the most gorgeous thing I’ve laid eyes on.

Fierce possessiveness floods my system as my eyes lock on my mark on her throat.

My knot flexes and loosens. I pull my hips back. No. Not enough.

“Fuck,” I grumble.

Her chin trembles and it feels like a kick in the gut.

“Leavin’ now. Call if you need anything,” Ty calls out.

“Thanks,” I call back.

And then we lie there for a long time.

She clears her throat.

“Say what you gotta say,” I mutter, staring at the holes in the wall.

“Maybe he has a point. Maybe because you’re fighting biology because of how much you hate me, you… your…”

I sigh.

Hate myself more like.

She clears her throat again. “If you try to blank your mind, meditate maybe, maybe it’ll help. I could talk you through some meditation.”

“The sound of your voice sure as shit isn’t gonna calm me down,” I mumble. “I need food.” I sit up, lean over toward a t-shirt on top of her bag and snatch it up.

“Put this on at least,” I grumble.

Her expression? Hurt. She’s hurt because she thinks I don’t want to look at her nude body, but it’s more like I’m hoping if I can’t see these beautiful tits for five seconds maybe my knot will let go. I can’t articulate it. Can’t form much more than basic grunts at this point. It’s like I’ve devolved or some shit, so after she’s got it on, I carry her out to the kitchen to see what sort of food Ty dropped off.

Not only are the looks on her face doing me in, the emotions flooding my chest mean I’m getting it on the inside, too. It’s too much. Too much emotion from her on top of the shit I’m feeling.

No, I don’t think this is my wolf. I’ve got a weird sensation that I’m alone in this. Like my wolf has vacated the premises of my fucked-up brain. It’s like I’m more than half empty. Never fuckin’ felt this way. It’s different from the grief when I thought I lost her. It’s different from the anger when I found out she deceived me. There’s definitely guilt over what I did to her last night. What she’s been through because of my inability to function. I don’t know how the fuck to describe these emotions other than to say I don’t know myself right now.

Tyson fixed the bathroom door and put shit away, thankfully, as navigating putting groceries into the fridge with a woman attached to my pelvis wouldn’t be easy. A quick glance shows me several meals already made that’ll just need warming up or throwing into an oven. I see sticky notes on some of the casserole dishes with instructions or names of what’s inside.

I catch a faint aroma and it takes too long to realize is Lincoln’s scent in the air and a beat later, there’s banging on the door. My nose isn’t working properly, just like my dick.

“Stay there, Linc!” I demand, pushing back the urge to growl so it doesn’t set her, then me off again.

“Hey Rye!” he calls out. “Sorry, bro… just brought you a microwave. Ty phoned and told me about your…”

Fuck.

“Don’t finish that sentence!” I order.

Linc clears his throat. “Anyway… brought you the nuker from the office so you can warm up food.”

“Count to ten slow, then bring it in. I’m stepping into another room first.”

I take her into the closest room, the bedroom.

Our eyes meet as I hear Linc’s footsteps coming in. Putting the microwave down, then retreating. “Call me if you need anything, brother. Congratulations, by the way. Another down, three to go.”

I flinch.

“I’m movin’ out. Figure we should have our own pads as it might not be long for Jase since all four of you were pretty close together. Anyway, call me if you need anything.”
