“I prefer the black ones,” he says, pointing to the heels on the stand in front of me.

“I have a cheaper pair already,” I reply.

“I’d like to see you in them… just them and nothing else.”

I huff out a breath and finally turn to face him. “Do you ever stop?” I ask.

“No, not when I want something as much as I want you.”

“You should go find someone else. I’m sure it won’t be that hard.” I slide on the ballet flats I was holding.

“Are you saying I’m good-looking, Pretty Lady?” And I just know, without even seeing his face, he has a brow raised in amusement. When I turn slightly to check, I see I’m right.

“Those are ugly. You have long, beautiful legs. Get the heels.” He stands, grabs the heels, and drops down in front of me on one knee. The shop lady watches with a mixture of amusement and horror on her face. I’m sure it’s not every day men enter a ladies’ shop dressed from head to toe in nothing but black leather, looking like he’s there to kill someone.

He looks good, though.

Slipping the ballet flat from my foot, he slides the heel in its place. Then his hand works its way up my calf, stopping and gripping me just below my knee. His gaze traces all the way up my body until he reaches my eyes. The inspection is slow and sensual, and if I weren’t a married woman, I would give in to what I know would be mind-blowing sex.

I’m sure Milo could provide very good mind-blowing sex.

“Get these heels.”

“I told you, I have heels.” I kick the shoe off.

“Let me get them and keep them at my place so when I fuck you after I finish reading the book to you, you can come while wearing these.” I hear a lady gasp, but my eyes are glued to his, and I’m approaching the point where I don’t care what anyone else thinks.

“I don’t need you to buy me heels, Milo.” I stand and tilt my head down to him. I slip on my own shoes when he doesn’t move from his position.

“Oh, but you do,” he says as he stands, towering over me. Then he leans in closer to smell me, getting in the crook of my neck but not quite touching me. “I’ll be seeing you real soon.” He pulls away, and as he leaves, his sandalwood scent surrounds me. I wonder when I’ll start hating that smell.

Probably never.

“So I’m not sure how interested you may be, but there is a party tonight at the clubhouse,” Letti says, coming out of her room in a short silk dress.

“You look beautiful,” I tell her.

She gives me a small spin and then a curtsy. “Why, thank you, my lady, but I got you one too.”

I look at her, surprised. I’ve been paying her money now, even if it’s hard to get her to accept it. I want to chip in and help as much as I can.

She goes back into her room and then comes back out, holding a bag. “Take it. There was a buy-one, get-one-half-price sale, and I couldn’t resist it.”

I take the bag from her and pull out a little black dress with spaghetti straps and a small slit up the side.

“Please say you’ll come with me. Obviously, there’s no pressure, but I’d love for you to come with me.”

I glance down at the dress and then raise my eyes back to her. “I will, if that’s okay.” I hold up the dress. “And thank you so much for this. It’s beautiful.” I turn and head to my bedroom. I slip into the dress and leave my Docs on my feet. When I come back out, she has her keys and is ready to go.

When we arrive at the clubhouse, I don’t see him right away. I sit with Aiden at the fire as he tells stories while Letti goes to the bar and takes shots with Mason. By the fifth shot, I think I should go over and help her, but I stay where I am, not wanting to be that friend.

“You loving your new job?” Aiden asks.

“I am, it’s good. I earn good money, too,” I say, smiling as he hands me a drink. I take a small sip. I used to drink a lot when I first met Cody, but ever since I stopped, I just don’t feel the need to do it again. Maybe it’s because I didn’t want my inhibitions lowered around him. Some part of me stopped trusting him somewhere along the way.

“I’m so happy you came. So, so happy.” Letti’s arms wrap around me from behind as she slurs in my ear.

“You’re drunk,” I state.

She rolls her eyes and waves me off. “Almost. And, gosh, it feels good.” Just then, Mason walks over, and she pulls him to her and leans on his chest. “This is Mason. He’s who I’ve been fucking.”
