“How the hell did you know where I was?”

“Doesn’t matter. Where is she?”

“She’s not your concern.” Sergei's voice is low now. The deadly chill to his tone makes a shiver run up my spine.

What is he doing? Furthermore, why is he doing this? He’s facing off against his own brother for me.

“Don’t do this. She’s a fucking Fernandino. If you need to get your dick wet–” I let out a small gasp when I hear the sound of a fight break out. I stare at the door wondering if I should go help Sergei.

“Motherfucker,” his brother grunts. The sound of fighting continues. Before I can think about it more, I rush to the door to see what’s happening. What if he kills Sergei? I’d be left for the wolves.

I fling the bedroom door open to see Sergei and his brother both coming back to their feet. I’m not sure who is winning, but the brother has blood dripping from his lip. I think I caused more damage to Sergei in the car.

Both of them snap their gazes to me. I stand in the door only armed with a phone. “Fucking hell.” His brother starts to wipe the blood from his mouth. Sergei in the meantime pulls out the gun and aims it right at his brother.

“Back into the room, princess,” he orders.

“Princess? You gotta be fucking kidding me. She got a golden pussy or something?”

I cringe when Sergei nails his brother with another blow right to the kidney. It sends him stumbling back a few feet. He doubles over, grabbing his side. The pain likely shot through his whole body. My father always told me it was a good place to hit if you can’t get to the face or the throat, but it’s hard to land it correctly. It’s safer to nail them dead center of the chest with your elbow. “Don’t even fucking look at her. Ever.” Sergei’s voice sounds murderous.

“I’d like to think of it as platinum.” I mean it must be since Sergei couldn’t keep his face out of it. He spent last night on his knees worshiping it. I let him, and today I was only seconds away from letting him do so much more.

“In the room,” Sergei orders me again.

“She’s got a fucking phone,” his brother, who is still staring down at the ground holding his upper side, says. The pain I’m sure is still radiating through his entire body, and it will for a while. If he were someone else, I might have sympathy for him.

“Are you going to call 911, princess?”

I shake my head no.

“Good, because they’ll never trace the tower either way.”

I’m not sure if he’s bluffing or Sergei really does have something on his phone that can bounce its location.

Trash sits on the back of the couch watching everything. Quickly I grab him and then head back into the bedroom. I place him on the bed and pull the curtains aside to get to the windows. They’re thick. It would be no easy feat to break one, and for the life of me, I can’t find a spot to open them.

“You’d, at minimum, break your ankles.” I spin around to see Sergei standing in the doorway. “It’s a good twenty feet.”

“Right.” I glance behind him but don’t see his brother. “What’s happening? Is it time for me to go?”

“No, Sal and I came to an understanding. For now.” I don’t even want to know what an understanding means to a Taletti.

“You trust that?”

“I prefer my guns. Sal prefers his knives. He didn’t try to pull one on me.”

“How sweet of him to come into your home and not stab you.”

“That mouth.” Sergei shakes his head.

“Going to get me into trouble?” I finish for him. He lets out a low chuckle. I bite the inside of my cheek so I don’t smile.

“No, I think I was wrong.”

“You what?” I perk up, turning my head to the side like I didn’t hear him correctly.

“I was wrong.” Sergei drops the gun on the side table before he comes to me.

“What were you wrong about?”

He runs his fingers through my hair before fisting it in the back to position my head so I’m staring up at him. “Your mouth. It’s not getting you in trouble. It’s fucking getting me into trouble.”

“I don’t understand.” He leans down, his mouth a breath away from mine.

“Because I fucking love it.” He kisses me, not giving me a chance to respond. But I don’t think he’s only talking about our kisses.

I’m rather fond of his too.

SERGEI

Kissing her makes the dispute with my brother fade at an alarming rate. It’s been like this from the moment we first touched–she seems to make everything else disappear. And by everything, I mean everything. Her mouth is more addictive than heroin, a better high than ketamine. I want to drown in it, in the way she tastes, the way her tongue is shy at first, then bold.
