“The traffic coming back from the park was unreal.” He tilted his head. “How’d you beat me?”

“Motivation.” Putting extra swagger in my voice, I blew across my knuckles.

“That, and you have friends with sirens.”

“I do.” Actually, I’d caught a ride with Eric and the kids. Since he had the day off, they had plans to do a family hike followed by a big shopping trip. Them being busy was perfect for my own plans with Denver. But Denver thinking I had superpowers was fine by me.

“Well, get in here.” Denver motioned me in ahead of him. As always, I went to slip off my shoes by the coat rack, but I barely had the second shoe off before Denver pressed me into the wall.

“What’s this?” I grinned at him, totally happy to be caught.

“Making the most of my day off.” He claimed my mouth in a kiss that was as possessive as it was sensual. We’d been at this for weeks, and the rush of energy I felt every time our bodies met only grew stronger. I’d assumed claw-your-clothes-off passion was a Hollywood myth, but Denver kept proving me wrong.

I simply couldn’t get enough of the man or his kisses. I pulled his T-shirt loose from his jeans, shoving it up until he got the idea and sent it flying to the floor. My own shirt quickly followed. I’d had goals for this encounter, but the deep, drugging kisses were melting my brain.

“Shower?” I pulled back long enough to ask. I had a vague sense of being grubby from the breakfast work, not that Denver seemed to care. “We should shower.”

I couldn’t help myself and leaned back in for another kiss before he could reply.

“Keep kissing me like that and the floor will start looking plenty attractive.” He tweaked one of my nipples before groping my ass. Yeah. Want more of that. For all our passion and urgency, Denver had been reluctant to fuck, and I was ready to end his mumblings about me not being ready and other distractions once and for all.

“We both smell like bacon grease.” I shoved him toward the bathroom.

“Yummy.” Denver laughed but let me grab his hand and tug him the rest of the way to the bathroom. I shed my jeans before reaching for his belt. “Okay, okay, you can wash my back again.”

“Thank you.” I gifted him with a sweet kiss before turning the shower on. I’d showered here enough times since that initial visit to know all the tricks of the old tub. Denver pulled his ponytail loose and did a hasty wash with his shampoo before presenting me with his back.

And front.

I soaped him up in between more kisses. The scent of his soap held enough happy memories that it alone was enough to get me hard. I loved how his body felt under my palm. Warm. Solid. Alive and present. The contrasts between his fuzzy chest, soft belly, and hard biceps made my cock pulse. I couldn’t get enough of touching him. He’d likely never been cleaner, but I kept soaping and touching, finding new spots to enjoy, like the planes of his upper back, the soft skin of his neck, and the ticklish spots along his ribs.

I was so entranced by washing him that I barely noticed when he started touching me as well, but when he reached for my cock, I batted his hand away.

“Wait. I don’t want to come.”

“Oh?” He raised an eyebrow, likely because I always wanted to come and had zero chill about that need.

“I mean, I do.” Skin heating from more than the hot water, I chuckled self-consciously. “But I want to get fucked.”

“We have plenty of time—” Denver offered me his most seductive smile, which had worked a dozen times to distract me. But today, I was determined.

“You always say that.” I tried not to sigh too heavily. “And I was thinking on the way here…”

“Always a worry. You thinking.” He smiled, but it didn’t reach his eyes and lacked the warmth of his real grin.

“Why don’t we fuck?” In our weeks of fooling around, I’d never asked him so directly. My pulse sped up. “Is that another responsibility you don’t want?”

Harumph. Denver shut off the shower with a frustrated noise. “What does it matter? If we both get off, does the how really matter?”

“Of course not. And if you’re simply not into fucking, that would be fine. But you sure as hell talk about it enough.” His dirty talk while playing with my ass never failed to get me off. “If it’s something we both want, why not do it?”

Glowering, Denver threw a fluffy white towel at me. “Because then you might not have any use for me.”

“Oh.” Brain whirling, I barely caught the towel. I’d expected him to say he didn’t want to be my first, but Denver—big, strong, capable Denver—being afraid was a shocker. Breathing heavily, I struggled to find a reply.
