He stops in the middle of the corridor to let me down. His hand lifts under my hair and he smiles down at me. “I love you, my ferocious as fuck tiger.”

He kisses me then, and just like it always does, his kiss stops my heart and then breathes new life into it. When it’s over I pull back to look into his beautiful eyes that are shining with happiness. “After we find our house, you and I are going to sit down and have a very long conversation,” I tell him as we continue walking in the direction of Rage’s room.

“What about?” he asks, his hand going firmly on my hip again.

“About I had no idea your name was Gary!”

“You didn’t ask and besides I hate the name.”

“Me, too. You’re not a Gary,” I agree.

“What am I?”

“You’re all mine,” I brag.

As we walk into Rage’s room and find E-Z and Liberty already there, I find myself sending up a silent prayer that my brother is happy and looking down at me right now and seeing the happiness and love that I’m surrounded with. This was what I always wanted for both of us. It’s bittersweet he’s not with me, but I’m praying that he’s feeling all of the love and joy that I am right now.

Out of nowhere a gentle breeze hits me and it smells like grape bubble gum—the kind that Teddy used to love to chew, and my heart threatens to run away with me. My brother is happy. I don’t know how I know it, or how I just felt him with me for a minute. I just know it’s true.

“You okay, Lennox?” Ghost asks, his face worried.

I smile at him with tears shining in my eyes. “I’ve never been better,” I tell him honestly. “I’m so happy, I could burst.”

His face relaxes and he walks over to a seat and pulls me into his lap. I hold onto him as we talk to our friends. No, not friends. They’re family. After all of these years, I finally found a place I belong and I’m never giving it up.
