Another noise of objection isn’t made.

Post the stripping of the clothing item, I deliver a needless caress to Evans’s chin, turn triumphantly on my heels, and gradually sashay towards Rowan, dragging out each step to prolong my husband’s misery.

Send it deeper.

Intensify it.

I won’t deny that – generally speaking – I find enjoyment in being this vindictive.

This heartless.

But in spite of what I’m certain is going through my husband’s head, treating him – of all fucking people – like he’s nothing more than another tool to be replaced when I’m bored or it gets broken, is not something that pleases me.

No.

It actually disgusts me.

And that is the last fucking thing I want to feel about someone I love.

Ever.

Now, directly in front of Rowan, I casually lean over and command. “Open.”

His dark scuffed covered jaw instantly cracks itself wide.

I shove the edge of the belt length wise across the center of the space. “Bite down.”

The action is met with the briefest twitch of his brow.

“Hard.” Seeing his teeth sink into the material sparks a wrathful grin to grow. “It’s good to see you can remember who you should be taking orders from.” Another flicker of guilt is flashed in Rowan’s gaze yet is easily ignored as I wind my fingers on the edge of his shoulders. “However, for allowing Yavok to step on my toes, I will be stepping on yours.”

There isn’t a moment for the statement to register.

All of my weight is shifted to one side at the same time I forcefully stomp the pointed portion of my shoe into his bare, middle toe. Cracking sounds are slightly muffled by the excruciating scream he unleashes around the makeshift gag and not hearing the noise intended to bring me solace has me swiftly slamming my foot down once more. Convinced the appendage I’ve attacked twice is successfully damaged, I scoot my heel just a smidge to the left, clamp my fingers down to keep him pinned in place, and repeat the stamping motion. More echoes of his bones being broken fight to be heard in between his howls of agony. The smirk on my face widens every time he cries out in anguish while the irritation in my system gradually moves towards a low simmer during each additional amount of carnage caused. Clomping and crushing and crushing and contusing ceaselessly continues across the exposed territory, leaving behind bruises.

Bumps.

Busted and bent bones.

Throughout the torturous process, I observe his choked sobs.

The tears that rim his eyelids.

How they fall.

I study the pattern of his shakes and how hard he struggles not to thrash.

How determined he is to withstand the abuse.

Prove his devotion.

Loyalty.

Without warning, my malicious actions come to an unforeseen stop on a tiny head tilt. “You think they’re broken?”

Rowan over enthusiastically nods around his bawling.

“Me too.” One final pitiless pound is executed to the area near his ankle. “For good measure.” His whimpers of pain precede the removal of my hands from his trembling frame. “You’re off this particular project.” Gradually backing up allows me the opportunity to admire the bloody, mangled mess that magically missed staining my rug. “I’ll outsource it.” Evans unexpectedly appears at my side with a handkerchief offering. “However, it’ll come out of your salary.” Transferring the cloth into my clutches is accompanied by a lifted eyebrow. “Is that understood?”

My inhouse hacker rapidly bobs his head a second time.

“Good!” Using the guard at my side for support, I lift my foot to wipe away the bit of blood that splattered on the golden heel. “Mr. Kessler will take you to the ER to get your foot properly evaluated. I suspect you’ll need a cast versus surgery.” The quick rub effortlessly removes the red droplets. “And when they ask you how it happened,” I toss my attention to Yavok who’s gripping his knees so tight that his knuckles are white, “why don’t you let Mr. Kessler create the well-crafted lie since you two clearly believe he possesses the level of intellect, intuitiveness, and ingenuity it takes to run this empire.”

His crystal gray gaze immediately floods with dejection. “Vaim-

“Remember to return Evans’s belt,” I toss Rowan’s direction prior to ambling over to my desk. “I’m sure he’ll appreciate having a younger man’s teeth marks so close to his dick since lately he hasn’t been granted the time to make that happen on his own.”

A faint grumble of irritation leaves my guard.

Did he deserve the dig?

No.

But considering the fact I’m not sure who does and does not respect me the way I deserve anymore, everyone will suffer.

At least for the time being.

“Mr. Kessler, Mr. Rowan, you are both dismissed.” Dropping into my leather chair is instantly followed by me angling it so that they can no longer see my face. “Evans, you may wait outside for the time being. I need a moment in private.”
