He moved his fucking perfect body right into my fucking personal space. Shit, my pose must not be nearly as intimidating as I’d been led to believe. He didn’t look at all uncomfortable with my display of masculinity.

“I texted Samson,” he said, not backing down from me at all. “I thought I’d prefer a yoga workout tonight.” He looked me up and down. “I’m sure you know that yoga is one of the best forms of exercise. It stretches your body into all sorts of wonderful positions.” He sent a wicked smile in my direction and added, “Great sex poses, too.”

I did know that. I didn’t need him to explain it to me, nor give me that high-handed model ‘look’ as he explained it. The very last thing I needed was to see him in yoga poses.

He tapped his foot. “So? Are we ready to meet my trainer or not? You realize I pay Samson by the hour, right?” He looked at the Rolex on his wrist. “I’m already ten minutes late.” Smiling sweetly, he said, “The clocks ticking, Landon; let’s go.”

Oh, it was more than the clock that was ticking. I could feel the muscles in my jaw doing a little ‘tick, tick’ dance of their own. Instead of arguing or demanding that he tell me what kind of game he was playing, I simply answered, “I’m ready. Let’s go, mega-model.”

“Don’t call me that,” he growled as he followed me to the door. We repeated the same security actions as always, him behaving and staying close to me. Once we stepped on the elevator, though, he said, “Not the gym tonight. We’re working out on the rooftop.” He tilted his head and gave me an innocent smile…that wasn’t innocent at all. “Yoga on the rooftop—can’t beat that!”

Frowning, I answered, “If you say so.” Knowing he was gaming me but unsure of what his plans were, I went ahead and punched the button for the rooftop. “When did you make this change, Micah? All changes should be cleared through me first.”

“Oh,” he said. “Okay. No problem. I’ll make sure I do in the future.” Another not-so-innocent smile.

Oh, the little fucker was definitely up to something I wouldn’t approve of. “Has your security team cleared and scanned the area?” Not that I would have trusted them—they worked for his father, whom I didn’t like or trust.

His eyes flashed guiltily. “I’m, uh, sure Samson has taken care of that.”

No, Samson had not; there wasn’t a doubt in my mind. Fuck. He honestly viewed my appearance in his life as nothing more than a game. I had a feeling I was nothing more than a new toy for Micah to play with.

The elevator doors slid open and two members of the security team stood on each side. Okay, that was good. No sooner had I’d noticed that, I heard squeals of excitement—girls and boys shouting Jinx’s name over and over again. I pushed him behind me and placed my hand just above the gun tucked into the back of my pants. “What. The. Fuck?” I roared.

Micah tugged on my arm. “Yeah, that’s on me. I told Samson to allow some fans to come up and watch the workout.” He shrugged like it wasn’t a big deal. “We do it from time to time—you know, to let the fans know how much we appreciate them. I’m certain it’s perfectly safe. Their phones have been confiscated so they can’t take inappropriate pics. It’s all good, Landon. Don’t overreact.”

Spoiled fucking brat. I guess now I knew what the not-so-innocent smile was about. I wanted to spank his ass until he couldn’t sit down for an entire week. Instead, though, I glared down at him and counted to twenty. Finally, after realizing I didn’t have much of a choice but to go along with his idiotic plan, I looked at the two security guys and barked, “Search them in front of me.” Turning to Micah, I said, “Stay with me until I give you the green light.”

He tried to squirm around me, but I yanked him back. “What?”

“They’re my fans, Landon. It’s enough that they’ve already been searched once, but you’re gonna make them go through it again? Come on, man; look at them. The oldest one in the bunch can’t be more than twenty-three. It isn’t like they are going to pull a Mission Impossible and abduct me right under your nose.”

“You have two options—we search them again or you return to your room. Your choice, Micah.”

“Fine,” he grumbled and nodded for the security team to do what I’d requested. Nearly thirty minutes later, they’d confiscated another twenty cell phones…and there were only fifteen fans that had been allowed in…and their phones had already been ‘taken.’ No weapons of any kind. The girls had giggled when they’d been searched again. The guys had rolled their eyes. Micah, standing behind me, assured them that it was for everybody’s safety. My blood pressure was through the roof.
