I fix her clothes and stand her up, turning her in my embrace. I take her lips and kiss her passionately. She looks away from me shyly and tugs her bra up. I pinch her chin and bring her face back to me.

“What’s the matter?”

“I work for you. What will people—”

“I’m a grown-ass man and I own this place. I plan to have you all over this office. No one will question if you’re mine, Liz. They will know. And once they know, they will know to keep their opinions to themselves.”

Chapter 35

Yay

Lizzy

“Do you and Daddy have to work late again?” Bella asks from her perch at the kitchen island.

I flip the pancake in the pan, then take Bella the bacon and pancakes that are done so she can eat and be ready for school. She gives me a happy smile.

“I don’t know yet,” I reply. “I have to log on to his schedule for the day, but he could always change his mind.”

At that moment, Dante strolls into the kitchen with a smile on his face, looking sexy as sin. He walks over and kisses the top of Bella’s head and snatches a piece of bacon from her plate.

“Hey, Daddy,” she pouts and frowns. “Ask Lizzy to make you your own bacon.”

Dante smiles as he chews. He narrows his eyes and points the unchewed piece of bacon at Bella. “I thought we shared around here. You had your spoon in my bowl of ice cream the other night and I didn’t complain.”

“Bacon is different, there are no friends in bacon,” she says with a serious look on her face.

I laugh and place two more slices on her plate. Dante laughs and walks up behind me, splaying his hand on my belly. I turn my face up to look at him and he pecks my lips.

“And I thought I told you to let the chef do his job. Why are you making breakfast?” he says, looking into my eyes.

I turn away and look down. “I don’t mind. I wanted to.”

He kisses the top of my head and then leans into my ear to whisper. “I’m having your things moved into my room. I’d like for you to find us a new bedroom set and have them deliver it ASAP.”

He then kisses my neck before nuzzling behind my ear. Bella’s little gasp grabs my attention. I look up and find her watching us. Her eyes are shining with joy. She pumps her little arm and whispers to herself, “Yes.”

Dante chuckles. I look to him and smile. He’s in such a good mood this morning. Honestly, I haven’t stopped smiling myself. Especially since I was awakened in the middle of the night by his warm mouth as he slipped into my room and bed. I was surprised to wake in his arms this morning. I thought he would return to his room so Bella wouldn’t find out about us.

“Is Lizzy going to be my new mommy?”

I suck in a breath and pull my lip between my teeth. Dante inhales as he runs his hands up and down my arms. I stiffen, not sure what to say.

“Shh. Don’t scare her off, Bella. I’m working on it.”

I whip my head around to look up at him. He winks down at me and pecks my lips. My heart soars. I don’t know if he’s teasing or not, but I can’t help thinking of them as my little family. I wonder if Dante wants more children. It didn’t escape me that while he didn’t use condoms, he did pull out every time.

“Yay,” Bella squeals and hops down from her stool to round the island and wrap herself around my leg.

Dante

I sit staring at Bella and Lizzy as they read and sit on the couch. This is the life I want. To come home to my girls and see them safe and happy.

The fact that it takes so little to make these two happy tightens my chest. Bella has been consuming books so fast, on the way home, I stopped so Lizzy and I could pick her up an e-reader. I smile as I think about how I watched Liz in the bookstore.

She was entranced by the books, reading the backs and stacking them in her hands. Then she switched to taking pics of books—I assume to purchase them later. I waved someone over to take her books to the counter and she only filled her arms with more.

They’ve been sitting like this since dinner. Tearing through their treasures. For the millionth time, I think of how much I’ve fallen for this woman.

I take a sip of my brandy and my thoughts turn to tonight. I can’t wait to climb into bed with my new obsession. I’ll be sleeping in her bed tonight. She wasn’t able to get our new furniture delivered until the end of the week. I decided to have the bedroom painted while we wait.
