“Nothing is wrong. Everything is perfect. I just love you so much.”

He wrapped me in a tight hug and peppered my head with kisses. He whispered into my hair, “And I love you.”

He eased backwards, lying flat on the mattress and pulling me on top of him. He was probably resting in my puddle, but he didn’t seem to mind. I placed my head on his chest and listened to the slow, steady thump of Viggo’s heart as he rubbed his hands over my back.

I was fulfilled. I was at peace. I was the happiest I’d ever been, and I got to share happiness every day with the man who gave it to me. I truly did love him - the kind of love that filled me up until there was no room for anything else. The kind that made me excited for the future. And apparently, the kind that made me horny all over again.

I’d always been a bit insatiable, but Viggo brought it to a whole new level. Now that I’d had him inside me, I couldn’t get enough. My heart rate quickened at the thought of sharing my body with him again. My cock thickened at the idea of riding his.

I propped my chin on my hand and found that he was already looking at me with a knowing smile. Still, I made my need clear by asking, “Wanna go again?”

His grin turned wicked before his lips took mine.

Chapter Nine

Viggo

We made love twice more before Skyler declared his need for a break. His endurance and stamina had risen due to our bond, but he was still human, after all.

I left him sated and relaxing in the bedroom as I made my way into the kitchen to get him something to drink. There was no ice box as I was used to, but the quiet hum of a motor drew me to a large metal box. I opened the door and felt cold air inside. With a quick search, I found bottles labeled water and grabbed two.

I also wanted to take him a snack (preferably something sweet, his favorite) to replenish his strength, so I opened a few cabinets to look. But my search was cut short when a crashing sound came from the bedroom.

Worried that Skyler may have fallen and hurt himself, I dropped the bottles of water and dashed back to him. Just as my beloved called my name inside my mind, I crossed the threshold of the room.

My heart fell as I took in the scene before me; the window was shattered, and Skyler was no longer lying comfortably in bed. He was on his feet and being detained by a dark figure, who was holding a shard of broken glass to my mate's neck.

This figure was not a stranger. He was not a random thief of opportunity. This was someone who could easily scale a building or leap to the second floor. Someone who had hatred in his heart towards my mate and myself; my father.

I growled at the sight of his hands on Skyler; both because my mate was still nude from our lovemaking, and because I knew my father meant to bring harm. I remained still, worried any sudden movements would make him attack.

“Let my mate go,” I demanded through clenched teeth, and my fangs which had descended in preparation to fight. But my father didn't budge, keeping his cold, calculating stare trained on me.

“You don't deserve a mate,” my father spat. “You don't deserve to walk this earth. I'll put you beneath it once more, and for good this time.”

It was obvious why he came, but it was unclear, “How did you find me?” The only person I'd seen was Remy, and I knew he would not betray me.

“I saw you in the city, openly flaunting your disgusting lifestyle. You are a disgrace to our family name and our species.”

“You're the fucking disgrace,” Skyler spoke up. I admired his bravery, but worried how my father would react to it. “You murdered an innocent woman and tortured your son just because he likes guys! Who the hell cares?”

My father cared. It didn't matter how the world had changed. His heart never would. He saw my happiness as an attack on his pride and status; an attack he found punishable by death. He told everyone that I was dead already, so he couldn't allow me to walk the streets and be seen. That would call his integrity into question. He couldn't let anyone find out what he'd done. To keep his lies tidy, I had to stay dead.

“Wait a minute,” Skyler continued, “Did you just follow us around all day?” My father couldn't attack us in public; not with the way the laws had changed. It was too risky. He had to wait until we were in private, and chose to strike against Skyler when he was alone, as he was weaker than I. If he was killed, I would die by default. I assumed the only reason we were still standing was that I interrupted his plan when I heard the window break.
