“Really?” My heart didn't just skip; it tap danced in my chest. No one had ever put me at the center of their attention or spoiled me this way. I searched my mind and came up with an idea I knew we'd both love. “I know just the thing, but let's swing by my place first. I want to change out of these clothes. I'm sorry, I don't think I'll have anything that will fit you.” He was both taller and broader than I was. There was no way my clothes would stretch over him.

“That's quite alright. We need to collect your car from Remy’s house; I'm sure he won't mind if I borrow an outfit from him until I can do some shopping.”

“We'll hit the mall tomorrow. It's got a ton of shops and I'm sure you'll find all kinds of clothes there.”

“I'm looking forward to it.”

“Me too. But for now, we should get checked out before these ass clowns charge my credit card again.” I chewed my lip for a moment before asking, “About that…do you think we could stop by the bank and pay off some things?” I felt a little guilty asking, but Viggo did say he wanted to provide for me, and the bank would be on my ass if I didn't get my balances in check.

“Of course,” Viggo replied with a nod. He reached into his pocket and pulled out two stacks of one hundred dollar bills. My eyes popped wide when I saw the wraps around each of them that read ten thousand. “Is this enough?”

It was way more than enough. “Yeah, that's…yeah.” I was in shock; I'd never seen that much money, yet Viggo whipped it out like it was nothing.

“Wonderful.” He leaned in and kissed me soundly. “Lead the way.”

We checked out of the hotel (on time, though not by much) before we walked a couple of blocks to my bank. I paid off all of my cards and deposited the remainder into my checking account. It wasn't a good idea to walk around the city with that much cash, vampire strength or not.

I wondered what would happen over time; would it get suspicious if I kept the same bank account for centuries? Would I need to open a new one every hundred years or so? If so, would I need to get a fake ID too? How would I keep my driver's license active? I could get away with it for a while, but when I still looked the same after sixty years, it might raise questions.

But those were worries for another time. I would talk to Remy for advice on how to navigate this new life. For now, I had a sexy vampire mate who wanted to spend the day with me, and I wasn't going to waste a minute on details that could wait.

Viggo held my hand as he led me just outside of the city. We came to a grassy area, which was far away from any prying eyes. He turned his back to me and lowered onto one knee. “Climb on,” he urged, and I settled myself onto his back, with my legs wrapped around his waist and my arms around his neck. He gripped my calves and took off.

The breath left my lungs as he ran at impossible speed. My hair whipped in the wind and my eyes watered. My skin prickled and every tiny hair on my arms stood on end.

But once I got over the initial shock and adjusted to the feeling, I loved it. It was better than the fastest rollercoaster I'd ever ridden. Viggo glided across the ground, his feet barely touching. It felt as if I were flying.

Joy bubbled inside me. I had never felt so light or free. I tipped my head back and cried out my excitement to the sky. Viggo's laughter vibrated against me.

When we neared Remy’s house, Viggo slowed down until he was running at a human's pace. By the time we stepped onto the lawn, he was simply walking. I slid off his back and laced our fingers together, walking by his side until we were on the porch.

Just like the day before, Remy opened the door before Viggo could knock.

“Hi, guys,” he greeted, wearing a welcoming but confused smile. “What's up?” Remy’s vocabulary was more up-to-date than Viggo's, but there were still times I could tell he'd been around a while. “Do you need more blood?”

“Not yet,” Viggo replied. “We're here to retrieve Skyler’s car, but I was wondering if I could trouble you for an outfit to wear?” He ran his hand down his chest and added, “I want to look presentable, but I don’t want to spend time in a shop. I have a very important date today.”

Remy beamed. “Yes, of course; it’s no trouble at all. Please, come in.”
