“1409.”

I entered it and submitted the order, not worrying about potentially overdrawing my account. I was too hungry to stress, and Viggo said he had ‘riches’ to provide for us. I believed in him; every word he spoke soothed me and gave me a reason to trust again.

“Okay, they will deliver it to our room in about half an hour.”

“That is incredible.” His earnest excitement warmed my heart.

“Yep. It’ll give us more time to hang out together, and staying in will keep us out of the sunlight.”

Viggo furrowed his eyebrows. “Do you not enjoy the sunlight?”

“No, I don’t mind it. I just didn’t want you to explode into ashes.”

He blinked before replying, “I’m afraid you’ve been given more false information about my kind. The sunlight does not affect us.”

“Well shit, did the movies get anything right?” My eyes widened when a thought hit me. “Can you have garlic?” If not, I was going to have to cancel our pizza order.

Viggo nodded. “Our keen smell is sensitive to large amounts of the spice, but it doesn’t harm us.”

“Huh.” I shrugged and added, “Well, I’m still glad to stay in. I’d like to take a shower before we go anywhere.” I was still covered in grass stains and dirt from the cemetery.

“I would like to clean myself up as well.”

It suddenly hit me that Viggo hadn’t showered in over a century. He looked clean and smelled nice, and his teeth were pearly white; he showed no outward signs of distress, but I was sure a shower would feel incredible. “You go first. I’ll jump in after you.”

“You are too kind, but I insist that you go first.”

I tucked my bottom lip between my teeth as a naughty idea crept into my mind. Not wanting it to go to waste, I asked, “Why don’t we take one together?”

Chapter Four

Skyler

In a blink, Viggo was on his feet in front of me. He tossed the blankets off of me and scooped me into his arms. While his actions were quick and intense, his touch was gentle. He cradled me against his body, holding me like I was something precious.

He effortlessly carried me into the bathroom, where he stepped close to the shower basin. After studying the knobs for a moment, he leaned down and started the faucet before testing the temperature.

Once he was satisfied, Viggo placed my feet on the floor and knelt in front of me. He eased off my shoes and socks before looking up into my eyes as he lifted his hands, touching his fingertips to the waistband of my jeans.

Though his gaze was hungry, Viggo didn’t rush. He was savoring the moment, making me feel desired. He also made me feel respected, checking my permission with every move. Even though we were soulmates, he didn’t show any entitlement to my body. He made me feel cherished for the first time in my life.

I nodded and Viggo unbuttoned my jeans. He worked the denim down my legs and over my feet, but he left my underwear alone. Not that they were hiding much; the thin cotton of my boxer briefs was stretched over my hard cock. I didn’t miss the way Viggo licked his lips at the sight.

But, he stood up and curled his fingers around the hem of my shirt, waiting for my approval. I nodded wildly; I was desperate for this moment and for his touch. I’d never wanted a man like this. It was as if every cell in my body yearned for him, making me physically ache.

I shivered when his hands grazed against my torso as he lifted my shirt. He lifted it over my head and dropped it to the floor before taking a step back to admire my thin, pale body.

My heart raced as his eyes took in my form. I wanted to please him. I craved for him to enjoy what he saw. This was different from any other encounter I’d had with a man. The feelings were new, but welcome.

“Your body is perfect,” Viggo finally said in a deep, husky voice, and I felt as if I could breathe again. “You are more beautiful than I ever could have imagined.”

His words unlocked a new, burning desire inside me. “Please, Viggo; I need to see you too.” Ordinarily, I would just rip off clothes and pounce, but I wanted him to know what this meant to me, and how deeply the moment affected me. I didn’t just want to see him; I needed it.

“Yes, beloved.” He held my gaze as he stepped out of his shoes and unbuttoned his dress shirt. I wanted to help him remove his clothes, as he’d done for me, but I was frozen in place, mesmerized by every inch of skin he revealed.

Viggo’s body was the perfect one; there were no scars or marks on his skin. His chest and abdomen were made of smooth mounds of muscle. When he lowered his trousers, I held onto the wall for support, as my legs lost their strength.
