Sasha scurries up to me so we can have another sobbing hug, then looks over as Tor walks our way.

“I want to hear this story in vivid detail,” she says, then bobs her eyebrows. “I like the accessory you brought with you.”

The DJ calls for the bride and groom to take their seats as Sasha gives me a wink, then scampers toward Damon.

Dinner and the food and the excitement, and sitting next to Tor, it’s all too much, but I’m floating on clouds and walking on air the entire time.

The DJ calls for the father daughter dance and that’s when the real waterworks start.

Sasha and Dad are sobbing while Tor pulls out his hankerchief and blots my tears from my cheeks.

They call for anyone to join the father and daughter on the dance floor, and Tor pulls me forward, spinning me and tugging me against him.

“How’s my girl?” he asks as I bury my face into his lapel.

“She’s happy and sad and excited…and a little sore.”

His deep chuckle vibrates against my cheek as his massive hand covers my back, while the other holds my hand outstretched.

Dad comes over as Damon takes Sasha away for the next dance as the songs change.

“I want to talk with your dad,” Tor says as he lays his long arm across my shoulders.

My belly flips and flutters as the two most important men in my life come face to face.

“Dad…” I start, but he raises a hand, his eyes locked on Tor.

“Young man. She’s the most precious thing in my life, along with her sister.”

“Then we have something in common, because she’s the most precious thing in my life as well. And, her family will be treated like my family.”

Dad nods as my blood pumps hard, watching the tension between them ebb and flow.

“You have family?” Dad asks, hands in his pockets, eyes fixed on Tor.

“I do. Brother and a sister. We are very close. Talk every day. And, my mother, I take care of her and my grandmother.” He pauses, eyes drifting to me then back to my dad. “I need to send her a bouquet of flowers, actually. Because of her, I met your daughter. So, I owe her a debt I’ll never repay.”

There’s a long, breathless silence as they regard each other, then I see the slightest nod from my father, and he reaches out to rest his hand on my cheek. “You have a lot to tell me.”

I breathe in with a nod. “So much.”

“Well, I can’t wait to hear.”

“You should know.” Tor clears his throat, my Dad’s jaw turning hard. “I’m going to marry your daughter. I should be asking you, but even if you say no, I’ll still marry her.”

“Marry her?” Natalie’s voice breaks the tension from behind.

“Wait—” I start, but my sister is now squaring off with Tor.

“You want to marry him?” she asks without turning her eyes my way.

Tor’s hand squeezes my shoulder as he looks down, and I nod. “Yes. I do.”

“Well,” Natalie says, breaking into a huge smile and handing off her bouquet to me. “We’ve got everything here ready. We can do it right now. Share our special day.”

“What?” I gasp. “No. This is your day.”

Tor is staring at me, then Natalie, then my Dad, and I’m sure he’s going to pump the brakes hard right now, but instead.

“I’m ready,” he growls, reaching into the inside pocket of his suit jacket and pulling out a box. “I was going to wait, but since your brilliant sister and I are on the same page…”

He crouches onto one knee, and I’m sure I’m being punked right now, but my dad and Natalie stare, wide-eyed as Tor flips open the box.

“My mom and grandmom and brother and sister will be mad as hornets, but baby, marry me. Now, today.”

“I can’t. This is Natalie’s day.”

“I want it to be our day. For the rest of our lives we can celebrate together on this day. Do it, marry him, if it’s what you want.” Natalie’s eyes brim with tears and I look down at the massive monster of a man on his knee, waiting for my answer.

“Yes. Let’s do it.”

He’s got the heavy emerald and diamond ring on my finger, and things turn into happy chaos.

“Are we doing this?” I ask again to the giant at my side with a smile on his face that looks a little out of place but still perfect.

Tor nods, “Let’s do it, baby.”

The next thing I know, I’m walking down the aisle in my bridesmaid’s dress with my dad, with Natalie in her wedding gown as my maid of honor and Dad, oh Dad, standing as the best man for Tor.

I’m getting married. To a divorce lawyer.

That I met yesterday.

You can’t make this stuff up.

“Let me see it all, wife,” Tor growls from his position behind me. He centered me on the bed on all fours as soon as we got to the suite.
