“Handsome, isn’t he?” She held up the phone. I was hoping she hadn’t noticed me gawking over him, but how could I hide it? He was handsome… and gorgeous, and successful. That heat in my face started to travel down my back and to my legs.
“Yeah,” I agreed, tucking back a strand of my bangs.
“Look, I got to head over to the café, but I’ll call you later.” She shut off her phone and got up. I stood too, then said bye to her. As she walked down the street, she called back, “Eight-ish, okay?”
“Yeah!”
I went back into the inn and hustled past the guests in the gathering room. One of them asked me for more coffee, but I just pointed back to the kitchen counter and said with a smile, “Help yourself.” Off to the bathroom on the opposite side of the gathering room, I hurried in and closed and locked the door. I yanked my phone from my pocket and got to the sugar daddy website as quickly as I could. I had to know more about Matt. I scrolled and scrolled until I finally found him.
“Matt,” I whispered his name. He lived nearby, liked the same music as me, didn’t care for cats—like me—and was looking for someone to share the summer with.
Deep breaths.
The whole summer with Matt. It’d be a dream!
I pulled my hair to the side and leaned back against the wall. I let my fingers trail along my skin, down my collarbone and near my breastbone. I thought of how he would kiss me. Maybe he’d press his lips to my body ever-so-gently, caressing me with his tender touch. I slid my hand down over my breast and gave it a squeeze, all while imagining it was him. Down to my belly and farther between my legs. How would he touch me here?
Lost in my thoughts, and with my heart pounding heavily, I barely heard someone knock on the door.
“Oh, yes?”
What had gotten into me?
“Jourdanne, I can’t find the creamer,” the same guest from earlier was asking.
I sighed and took a deep breath. “It’s in the cabinet next to the sugar.”
“Okay, thank you!”
I waited for the guest to walk away, then I looked at my phone again. Without thinking, I clicked on the message tab.
Hello Matt, my name is Jourdanne. I just saw your profile and I had to contact you. I can’t explain how, but I’m drawn to you. I have been from the moment I looked into your eyes. I would love to get to know you, but I want to be upfront about one thing. I’m a virgin. If you’d like to talk, let me know. I’m available anytime.
Before I could talk myself out of it, I clicked send.
MATT
“She sounds adorable,” Leandro laughed on the other end of the call. “You two will make a great pair.”
“I left out one part,” I said to him. I was sitting on our bed thinking about Jourdanne and what things could happen between us before I called Leandro. Now that I had him on the phone, all I wanted was him. “She’s a virgin.”
“Even better!”
“How is that better?”
“She’ll be eager, and she won’t be hard to please.”
“Is that really what you’re thinking about?”
“Hang on a minute, Matt,” Leandro said. He started to talk to someone else with the phone a bit muted. I could just imagine he had it pressed to his chest. “Sorry about that. What were you saying?”
“Leandro, why can’t I just have you? Why do I always have to stay home?”
“We’ve been over this, Matt.”
I got ready to say something, but I could tell he had lowered the phone again to talk to someone else.
“She’s as sappy as you. She’ll be perfect.”
I tapped my finger on the back of the phone for a breath. “If I came with you, I’d arrive separately and stay in the hotel. No one would know I was there.”
“How is that any different than what you’re doing now?” Leandro sighed on the other end. “Matt, at home you can go out and enjoy life. You can get drinks with friends, see a play, visit the museum. Anything you want. If you were here—”
“If I were there, people would know you were with a man.”
“Don’t be like this.”
“Your company is open to all people. Hell, even your secretary has dated a woman.”
Leandro laughed at my words as if they were childish. “Matt, it’s not about them. Of course, my company is inclusive. I wouldn’t have things any other way.”
“And are you so famous that you believe your parents would see us in tabloid pictures?”
“I’m not famous. Not really.” He was still laughing.
“But that’s it, isn’t it? You’re afraid to be honest about us because of what other people will think.”
“Matt, please.”
I took a breath and then closed my eyes.
