“Yes.”

“Then you see why you and I can’t work. He’ll be part of your life and therefore mine.” I pause, spinning a little. “It’s kind of ironic, dontcha think? Carter might be right about us being soul mates, but we’ll never know.”

“So you think we could be soul mates?” Logan says. “If it weren’t for him?” he adds.

I bite my lip. “I think I felt an immediate connection with him that I couldn’t explain. And the more I got to know him, the further away that explanation got.” I sigh. “Until I met you and felt it all over again. Times a hundred.”

Logan slides his hand over mine and squeezes. “I need to go to the bathroom.”

“Not really the response I was looking for.”

Logan leans towards me and presses his lips to mine. My body lights up with heat and tingles.

He pulls away. “It’s time for the final test.” He gets up, stepping over my lap, and heads to the bathroom up front.

Oh. Oh! I look around at the other passengers. No one is paying attention to us.

I slowly rise and make my way to the tiny bathroom. I go inside and lock the door.

Ten minutes later…

Sweaty and flushed, I sit next to Logan, trying to catch my breath in first class. I’m still feeling the effects of my orgasm.

“Well?” I say, looking ahead. “Did you get your answer?” Without all of the other crap going on—such as Carter’s and Sofie’s lives on the line—I completely gave in to the moment of Logan inside me. I’ve never come so hard or wanted anything more than him. Even if it’s one more day, I’d take it. Except for one thing…

“Yes,” he says, “I got my answer.” He smiles. “I’m definitely in.”

“But, Logan, I need to tell you something.”

“Yes, you hate Carter. You don’t want him in your life. But I can’t control what he does.” He threads his hands through the hair at the nape of my neck. “I can only control what I do, and I need to see where this goes.”

Hearing Logan say that he’s all in triggers major doubts about my stance on Carter, but he’s not the only problem.

“Here’s the thing, Logan, I want to be open-minded. I really do. But the reason I knew my feelings for you were different than what I felt for Carter is because the moment I met you, I knew I wouldn’t be able to share you. Not ever. I didn’t feel the same way about your brother.”

“You’d rather let me go than let me do my livestreams?”

I give it some thought. I don’t want this to end. “I’d rather solve a problem.” I push my mouth to his and kiss him like I mean it. I want him to know I’m all in, too. “But you’ll have to trust me.”

“All I ask for is a good woman to trust, so I can give her my heart. From there, my life is hers, and she is my life,” he says poetically.

I cover my mouth.

“What? Too cheesy? It’s from a poem I wrote in college.” He looks embarrassed. “I know it’s a little corny.”

“No.” I cover his hand. “I mean, yes, it’s corny, but I love it. It’s just, Carter said it to me once. He said it like a man speaking from his heart.”

“Yeah, well, wouldn’t be the first time Carter stole something.”

I should’ve known those weren’t Carter’s words.

I smile, thinking in the back of my mind that I’m fairly sure I love this guy. He has everything I want, but he’s nothing I expected. “This is going to work. I can feel it.”

He beams into my eyes. “Then I guess Carter wins. We’re meant to be.” He leans down and kisses me tenderly. Warm tremors surge through my body. The connection between us is unrelenting, like we’ve been together forever.

Suddenly, images flash in my head. I see the future—fights, laughs, love, getting old and nearsighted. Logan is by my side.

I pull away and smile, feeling a glow deep inside. He is the one.

“Too bad Carter isn’t here to witness his victory,” I say sarcastically. “Guess we’ll just have to be satisfied keeping the moment all for ourselves.”

EPILOGUE

“How do I look?” I say, spinning in my red dress with my red hair pulled up into a classic French twist.

Logan, who’s wearing a tux and looks like a movie star, smiles with a twinkle in his bright blue eyes. Of course, Logan is a movie star now, and so am I, but not in the traditional sense.

We never auditioned for our roles. We never went to a movie set or memorized lines. All we did was fall in love while his crazy brother pushed us through a maze of situations. Or, as Carter likes to describe it, he created opportunities for Logan and me to be together while allowing “the hand of fate to play out.”
