I giggle quietly at the memory of what precisely this six-month anniversary commemorates: the time we first made love, in the pantry next to the movie theater. Or more precisely, the night Logan took my virginity. It was a crazy time, but since then we’ve been inseparable. After that unforgettable night, I moved into his suite upstairs where my man ravishes me whenever he likes. But I enjoy it, and it’s been eye-opening to say the least. Of course, I finished high school and even graduated with honors, but I never told any of my friends about my new living situation. Instead, I acted as if nothing had changed, and no one even suspected.

But tonight, Logan wants to do something fancy. I enter the dining room and find my lover looking as handsome as ever. He’s dressed in a black tuxedo with a crisp white shirt that highlights the bronze of his skin. His hands are stuck carelessly into his pockets, and he’s staring out across the grounds of his estate from the tall window that takes up all of the southern-facing wall.

But when Logan hears my footsteps on the gleaming marble tiles, he immediately turns to face me, a gorgeous grin lighting up his impossibly handsome face. His blue eyes sparkle as he watches me walk towards him, and I never get tired of how beautiful he thinks I am. I can see it in his expression, and he tells me all the time too.

Sometimes I still need to pinch myself, unable to believe that this is my life. This is real. That a gorgeous, unattainable, wealthy bachelor really is into the likes of me. But it is real because there’s no faking his emotions.

“Happy six months, baby,” Logan grins as he picks up two glasses of sparkling grape juice from the gilded bar cart next to him. I could probably get away with drinking alcohol here, but Logan prefers to do things properly and neither of us are indulging until I turn twenty-one. It’s just one of the things I love about him, and I shoot him a winning smile.

“Happy six months,” I reply as I accept my glass, clinking it to his.

Honestly, this is the happiest I’ve ever been. What more could a girl ask for? I live in luxury, and not only that, but Logan doesn’t sleep with any of the other women anymore. They still live here, but he doesn’t indulge.

“Really?” I asked in a hesitant voice after that first night. “You’re not interested in Candy, Margaret, or even … Lily?”

It was difficult to say my mom’s name because who really wants to share a man with their mother? But Logan merely laughed, revealing gleaming white teeth.

“So Lily really does exist?”

I stare at him.

“Of course she does!”

He laughed again.

“Then no, I definitely don’t want to sleep with your mom. Or any of the other women, to be honest. You’re enough for me, Jasmine,” he said in an indulgent tone. My heart overflowed although my head’s still full of questions. After all, this is a man who takes the playboy lifestyle to the nth degree, and has for a long time now. What was so special about me that he’d change his ways?

But we never got a chance to discuss it because Logan ravished me all over again, and the conversation never got picked up. But I’ll figure it out sooner or later. For now, however, I’m deliriously happy. I have a place to live. My mom has a roof over her head. I’ve finished high school, and even enrolled at Fairlawn Community College to pursue my Associate’s degree. I started a few poetry classes a couple weeks ago, and it’s been so fulfilling. Even better, my man is supportive of me continuing my education, and encourages me to study. Who would have guessed?

But now, we’re enjoying the best part of the day together. Logan’s arm is around my waist and my head rests on his shoulder as we take in the spectacular view of his estate. He inclines his head and kisses my temple.

“I have something for you,” Logan whispers into my hairline.

“You do?” I ask, turning to look up at him. “You didn’t have to do that! You’ve already arranged all this!”

“What, this dinner?” he respond with a grin. “This is nothing, baby. It’s the least I can do for you.”

His eyes sparkle as he puts his glass of grape juice down and reaches into a compartment of the bar cart I hadn’t noticed.

“This is my real gift to you,” my man growls as he presents me with a flat, black leather box. With trembling fingers, I flip open the top, and when I do, my breath stops in my throat because within the black velvet interior lies a beautiful gold necklace with a delicate flower pendant attached to it. Plus, there are matching earrings: thin, delicate hoops with one identical little flower pendant hanging off each one.
