“If we can,” Seline said. “Or maybe offer to put her someplace safe where Lendrex can’t find her.”

He shook his head.

“I still don’t like the idea of you coming with me.”

“I’m not only coming for Lovely—I need to find Peep-a-cheek too,” Seline told him. “He must be somewhere in the Tangle and you know I’m the one he imprinted on—I hate the thought of him flying around looking for me and not ever finding me.”

Nox sighed and ran a hand through his hair.

“I see that there is nothing I can say to dissuade you.”

“No, there’s not,” Seline said.

He was sounding more like his old self, she thought—she wasn’t sure if that was a good thing or not. It seemed to her that he still had some very intense and—for him—confusing emotions he hadn’t worked through.

“Hey,” she said tentatively. “Can we talk about what just happened between us, before Master Lendrex called?”

Nox scowled.

“There is nothing to talk about. I beat you and then I nearly Bonded you to me, even though I knew that doing so would trap both of us here, in this alternate universe. All because I could not control my emotions.”

“That’s exactly what I want to talk about,” Seline said earnestly. “It seems to me that you’ve been having a lot of really strong feelings and you’re having a hard time dealing with them. Which is totally understandable, since you’ve never had emotions before and you’re not used to them.” She leaned forward and touched him lightly on the arm. “I just want you to know that none of what happened is your fault.”

“Of course it’s my fault.” Nox shrugged off her hand. “I saw this coming,” he said in a low voice. “I felt the emotions creeping up on me and I did nothing about it.”

“What? What do you mean?” Seline asked. How long had he been having feelings?

“It started with the dreams.” He kept his eyes fixed on the ship’s controls as he spoke, refusing to meet her eyes like a man admitting something he’s ashamed of.

“Dreams?” Seline asked. “What dreams?”

“Dreams of you,” Nox admitted. “Dreams of a…sexual nature.”

“Oh.” Seline blinked. “Well—that’s not a big deal, Nox,” she said, trying to reassure him. “I mean, maybe you were having what we humans call ‘wet dreams.’”

“Wet dreams?” Nox finally looked at her, with a frown creasing his face. “Do you call them that because your pussy was wet and hot in all of my dreams? Because that is certainly true.”

“Oh, um…” Seline could feel her cheeks getting hot. Despite everything they’d just done together, hearing him speak so frankly still made her blush. “Not exactly,” she told him. “We call them ‘wet dreams’ because having sexy dreams often causes you to come in your sleep—it mostly happens to adolescent boys,” she added. “But I wouldn’t be surprised if it was happening to you when your emotions were first emerging.”

Nox shook his head.

“The dreams didn’t cause me to ejaculate in my sleep—though I often had to take myself in hand when I woke. And they lingered in my consciousness. I…thought of you as I stroked myself,” he added in a low voice.

Seline felt herself getting warm all over. Despite the intense orgasms he’d given her earlier with his tongue and his fangs, she still felt extremely turned on. What was wrong with her? Was she becoming insatiable? Anyway, the idea of Nox stroking his long, thick shaft and thinking of her while he did it made its way to her mind’s eye and made her feel hot and tingly all over.

“Well, that’s…understandable,” she said as lightly as she could. “And it’s not a big deal, really. I mean, I’ve dreamed of you from time to time too, you know.”

“Did you?” Nox leaned towards her, an intense look on his chiseled features. “And did you touch yourself intimately afterwards?”

“Oh, uh…” Seline could feel her cheeks getting even hotter. The embarrassing fact was, she’d fantasized about her Protector more than once—and had gotten off to that particular fantasy as well.

“Well?” Nox asked, raising one eyebrow.

“Um, well, yes,” she admitted, looking down at her hands, which were clenched in her lap. “Yes, I did, uh, touch myself intimately while I thought of you, Nox. I’ve been attracted to you for a long time—I always thought you’d make an amazing Dom.” She shrugged. “And it turns out, I was right.”

He frowned.

“How can you say that after what I just did to you? After I beat you with the crop?”

“Remember how we were talking about BDSM just before we left our own universe and I told you that pain is often part of the play?” Seline asked, hoping she could make him understand.

Nox’s face was like a thundercloud.

“I remember—but I don’t agree with it. I did not enjoy hurting you—in fact, it gave me some of the strongest and worst emotions I have yet experienced and I disliked them intensely.”
