“Looks like it works, Dad.”

Two months had passed since that incredible weekend up at the lake house. The days were still hot, but the occasional cold front would gave us a few degrees’ reprieve. Maebh and I had tried to spend as much time together as we could, but it seemed like something always came up to keep me at the bar late or her at the restaurant. Her father had returned to Ireland two weeks ago, so either I would stay at Maebh’s place, or she stayed at mine. That was something I wasn’t about to miss out on, regardless of our schedules. I needed her in my arms when I fell asleep and I needed to be inside her first thing every morning. It was going to kill me when she headed back to Ireland for a few days.

“It’s packed in here tonight!” Trevor shouted over the live band.

Nodding, I took in the bar. “I’ll take it because it’ll be quiet before you know it.”

Tourist season was nearly over, and soon things would calm down, but Friday and Saturday nights were still busy.

“Warning at your nine,” Trevor stated.

Glancing to my left, I saw two women sitting at the bar eye fucking the hell out of me. Shit. I recognized one of them. I’d fucked her about a year ago. Walking over, I gave them both a polite smile.

“What can I do for you ladies?”

“Both of us, at the same time,” the red-haired girl shouted, causing the guy next to her to glance our way. I gave him a grin and looked back at them. Groaning inwardly, I reminded myself not to use that phrase ever again when asking women what they wanted to drink.

“What would you like to drink?”

The blonde whom I had been with pouted. “Cord, don’t you remember me? I’m back in town visiting my aunt, and this is my cousin, Roni. You looking for a fun time this evening?”

The fact that she was willing to have a threesome with her cousin made me want to gag. “Sorry, I’m off the market.”

Her eyes widened. “What does that mean?”

Roni leaned in and shouted, “I think he’s saying he has a girlfriend.”

The blonde—what in the hell was her name again?—glared at her cousin. “I know what he’s saying.”

I let out a sigh, “So, ladies, what can I get you to drink?”

The blonde leaned forward. “Your cum when I blow you again in the back room.”

And that was it. I tapped the bar, said goodbye, and walked away.

“Ross, you want to take the two down at the end?”

Ross had been with me since I opened. One of the best bartenders around. He gave me a knowing smile as he glanced over my shoulder and headed that way. Ever since I had started dating Maebh, Ross had come to my rescue a number of times. Hell, I hadn’t ever realized how many women in this damn town I had fucked in the back room of this place until they all started asking for repeats. It actually made me shiver anytime I thought about it.

My phone vibrated in my back pocket. Pulling it out, I smiled when I saw her name.

Maebh: Is it too late for pie? Can you break away?

Looking around, I saw that Trevor, Ross, and Tammy had the bar covered. Motioning to Trevor, I held up my hand and stuck up one finger.

He laughed and shouted, “Make it two unless you want her to think you can’t last long.”

It was only nine and for the bar to be this busy was a good thing, but it was still early, and that meant it would be a long night. Breaking away for an hour was something I needed, or I would be crawling into Maebh’s bed around three in the morning…and I really needed to see my girl.

Me: I’ll meet you over at Lilly’s in five.

Maebh: See you there!

I served a couple of a guys who walked up to the bar and then made my way to Tammy.

“I’m heading out for about an hour. If you need anything, call my cell.”

She nodded while mixing up a drink. “Where you going?”

I looked at her, my brows pinched together. Since when did she become my keeper? I’d noticed a change in Tammy ever since Maebh and I had started dating. I was beginning to wonder if the gossip Maebh had heard from my two waitresses called for a little sit-down meeting with the manager of my bar.

Fuck. That was the last thing I wanted to do. Tammy was damn good at her job, but if she did have a thing for me, that shit needed to be aired now. She needed to know there was no chance in hell I’d ever hurt Maebh.

Ever.

“I’m meeting Maebh over at Lilly’s, if you have to know.”
