“Drake.”
“Drake doesn’t know the difference between deadpan humor and being serious. Put him down before I lose it and put you down!”
“You threatening me in my own clubhouse?” the biker asked, but when he patted Clover’s ass, it must have been the last straw for Pyro, because the nearest wall moved toward Clover’s face all too quickly, and his only salvation was using his arm to protect his head when Pyro shoved the biker back.
“I don’t care if this is your grandma’s cottage, or if you own all the land I’m standing on. Touch the boy one more time, and there’s gonna be blood. I said he’s ours! His ass is ours, his mouth is ours, his hands are ours, and his pretty face is ours. Get it? Put him down!”
Tension choked Clover when even the music became quieter, but instead of lashing out at Pyro, the biker let out a rumbly laugh and set Clover down so harshly he would have fallen over if Pyro wasn’t there to catch him.
“I’ll be damned. That boy’s ass must be made of velvet and gold if you’re so possessive.”
Pyro pulled Clover under his arm. “Well, he’s pretty fuckin’ special, if you can’t tell.”
Clover swallowed and looked up at Pyro. The same Pyro who had made a point of a revenge fuck just days ago. Who’d avoided him. Who seemed chill about Clover to the point of not caring.
Clover pressed his face against Pyro’s neck and hugged him as hard as he could.
This left the other guy, the one with the tattooed hands, on the battlefield, but after drilling Pyro with his gaze for several seconds, he shook his head and walked off.
Pyro’s body relaxed.
“Jesus Christ, Clo! What did you get yourself into? You should have told him no. We are the guests!” Pyro hissed, leading him toward a fridge that contained a whole collection of local beers.
After the horrible experience three days back, Clover wasn’t sure how he’d feel about being touched by Pyro again, but now that his shoulders carried the weight of Pyro’s arm, he didn’t know how he’d survived without it. Where Tank’s force was controlled, Pyro was wildness with his crazy tats and unpredictable behavior, He always kept Clover on his toes.
“I’m sorry, I wasn’t sure what to do.” He swallowed, his moonshine-infused brain only now processing what had almost happened. He didn’t want other guys. He did want to feel like theirs, to belong to Tank’s crew. Maybe that was why Drake’s betrayal hurt so much despite their constant conflict. “He was just there, and he was big, and I tried to say no politely. He just… picked me up.”
Pyro rolled his eyes and grabbed someone’s half-empty bottle before downing it in a couple of gulps. “We ditched rubbers, right? You’re not allowed to fuck anyone else, or we’re gonna have a problem,” he said, pushing Clover at the wall and poking his breastbone with a single finger. For once, his gaze didn’t stray and met Clover’s, burning him with its intensity despite the glaze of alcohol keeping it cloudy.
When Pyro leaned toward Clover, resting his elbow above Clover’s head, a stream of phantom heat trailed down Clover’s body and made him curl his toes. He swallowed his disappointment. “That’s why I’m yours?” he whispered. “‘Cause we’re fucking bare?”
Pyro licked his lips, his eyes like two oxidized coins under the green flame tattoos. “No. But that would be cheating then… wouldn’t it? Nobody likes a cheater,” he said, touching Clover’s throat with his fingertips. Suddenly, swallowing was difficult.
Pyro considering them exclusive was a pleasant surprise, but a question still burned at the tip of Clover’s tongue. He put his hand over Pyro’s.
“Do you still even like me? After what’s happ—?”
Pyro descended on him with a kiss so intense Clover struggled with the lack of air, and when Pyro pushed him at the wall, Clover only realized what was happening when Pyro grabbed his thighs and picked him up without allowing their lips to part. Warmth exploded inside Clover, and he wrapped his limbs around Pyro’s strong body, holding on as the storm that was Pyro rolled over him, staking his claim with squeezes and rubs.
“That answer your question?” Pyro asked, breathless from the making out.
Clover’s heart beat fast, but he was feeling naughty and nuzzled Pyro’s nose. “No. Say it.”
Pyro’s breath was hot and fast on his skin, and made Clover’s liquor-soaked brain spark with a multitude of colors. He rolled his forehead against Clover’s without looking into his eyes. “I’m sorry. I was so rough. Didn’t know how to talk to you after what I did.”
Knowing Pyro was on his side made Clover warm all over, and he couldn’t wait to rekindle the fire with the wildest guy of the bunch. He grinned and stroked Pyro’s braid. “Heard you called me a unicorn,” he teased.
