“I’m not in the mood!” Boar announced, as if that much hadn’t been obvious. Did Clover not want to fuck him or something? Because lately it was all about Clover, Clover, Clover.

Pyro backed him to the wall, resting his forearm against Boar’s throat and looking into the flushed face of his lover. “I won’t stop pestering you until you tell me. What did the little flea do?”

Boar released a deep breath. He wouldn’t meet Pyro’s eyes, but he did stop moving. “He told me I’m just a dick to him.”

Pyro felt his shoulders sag, and he let Boar go. “Well shit. Told you you were getting attached too fast. He’s been with us what... ten days?”

Boar rubbed his face. “But I can feel he’d be a good fit! He’s like this little puppy, desperate for affection, and it’s so obvious, but he won’t admit it. He’s perfect for the both of us. Why wait?”

Pyro was afraid that, in this equation, Boar was the puppy. A Rottweiler, but a puppy nevertheless.

He licked his lips, watching Boar’s features twitch, redden, and display all the emotions that should stay hidden. “Maybe. But if he told you he only wants what’s in your pants then clearly he’s not a good fit, is he? Did you take him on a date or something that this makes you so upset?”

Boar’s gaze darted to the side. “Maybe.”

That was a ‘yes’ then.

Pyro pushed his fingers into Boar’s beard, rubbing it gently. “You need to chill. I get it, he’s cute. Scratch that. He’s a fucking sexpot. But you were supposed to give it time, and you’re charging in already with flowers and chocolates.”

“I just really like him!”

Of course he did. Who wouldn’t like a pretty twink? And this one was in need of help too, which pulled on Boar’s heartstrings and turned him into a softie. Pyro didn’t normally mind it one bit, but this time Boar’s infatuation was a source of misery.

“You should have let me handle this. I wouldn't have taken his petty bullshit.”

“He told me I was too emotional! You know how much I hate that! And now we’re stuck with him here, and I like him so much, and now I hate him so much too!” Boar raised his arms in helplessness. It was one of those times when Boar’s age—only twenty five—really showed.

To be fair, Boar was a bit too emotional. Or rather, too quick to bare his emotions. That was one of the things that made him such a great friend and partner, but also led to situations like this one. “You can still fuck that attitude out of him. Give him a taste of his own medicine.”

Boar ran his fingers through his hair. “I don’t even want to. I feel like an idiot. He’s nineteen, half my size, and made me feel so small! How can he be so mean?”

Okay, that was more serious. “Was he? I thought he just rejected the possibility of anything more. What did he say?” Pyro asked, feeling his body hair bristle.

“He mocked me and my attachment to him. Right after we had sex. What the fuck?”

Pyro gritted his teeth and, for lack of a better idea, patted Boar’s back. He wasn’t very good with other people’s feelings and that would likely never change. But that didn’t mean he didn’t care or that he would just do nothing.

“What a dick. We can’t just ignore it.”

“What am I supposed to do? Punch him? He’s so tiny I’d break him in half. It’s driving me nuts.”

“If he can’t see what he’s missing, then he’s not worth your time. Come on,” Pyro said, pushing Boar toward the door. He was a man on a mission.

Boar groaned, but let himself be herded downstairs where Pyro sat him at the table and told him to wait. From there, he handled the grill and asked Drake to go inside. Tank, who at this point sat on stool with Clover in his lap, would be a tougher nut to crack. But Pyro took on much harder tasks in his life. If he could survive in the streets, kill terrorists, and extract kidnapped children from foreign soil, then he could make Tank see Clover’s true nature.

“Yo. Tank, we need a meeting. Now.”

Tank’s expression went from relaxed to attentive in a split second. “What is it? Are we under threat?”

Clover knew what was going on already, because he refused to look at Pyro and put his feet, clad in brand new trainers Boar must have gotten him, on the foldable table next to Tank.

“You’ll know when I tell you. Clover, stay where we can see you from inside.”

Clover frowned. “But I want to know too.”

Tank ran his hand up Clover’s pale arm and stared at Pyro. “I told you he needs someone around at all times.”
