It was a windy night, full of nature’s greatest dance. Indigo clouds swished by glittering stars. Tree branches packed with jade leaves swayed back in forth in a trance, and throughout the show the two moons, now shaped like shimmering white Cs, lounged in the sky as spectators.

We rode by a massive gate made of steal. A huge white sign hung from the gate’s arch. It had black letters and said, Noble Estates.

Xander whispered in my ear. “Have you ever seen this part of the city?”

“No. This is one of the domina-restricted areas.”

“Well then, welcome to the land of vampires with upper-crust bloodlines and way more money than sense.” Xander did a dramatic twirl with his hand. “Try not to vomit from their greatness.”

Victoria sniffed Xander’s way. “Is that envy I smell?”

“No. It’s the rotting souls of the heartless rich.” Xander placed his ivory mask back on his face. It only covered his forehead, nose, and the area around his eyes.

Meanwhile, his curving, thick horns remained erect and pushed through his black-and-blond hair. Xander still hadn’t figured out how to draw them back in.

I assumed the horns appeared due to his rage and so I tried to calm him.

Therefore, the day was filled with several failed plans—candlelit meditation, a warm bath, a cup of hot sarsaparilla tea, a pipe full of Zumayan mushrooms, and several sensual sessions of our bodies intermingled together.

No matter what, his newfound horns remained.

Thankfully, Octavia’s parties boasted of fights, wild sex, and odd behavior. That meant Xander dressed in an all-white costume, mask, and horns would not make him stand out at the party. If anyone asked, he would tell them he was honoring the god Ambi, who was always depicted in ivory clothes and with black obsidian horns shooting out of his head.

Xander could get away with the weird disguise tonight, but by tomorrow night, we would need to fix the problem.

“You’re just jealous, Xander,” Victoria stated.

“Leave Xander alone, Mooshkee.” Ty placed his arm on Victoria’s shoulder.

They both wore hats coated in white wolf hair and matching satin suits, except Victoria’s suit formed to her body and exposed an ample amount of cleavage. Black masks covered their entire faces.

“I told you not to call me that in public,” she muttered, yet a wide smile spread across her face and the couple began exchanging low murmurs and lust-filled glances.

Xander leaned closer to me. “Have I told you how enchanting you look tonight?”

Xander trailed his fangs along the outline of my neck. Shivers rocked my body. The more his fangs touched me, the greater my reaction came.

Those damn fangs are so deliciously addicting.

I swallowed down the ache that was building in my chest. “Please put those fangs away before we start something in front of your friends.”

He licked his lips and kissed the curve of my neck, letting his gaze travel over the crimson beaded gown I wore. It was strapless, hugged all my curves, and had two slits that started at my hips and ended at my ankles. A red beaded mask hid my face, while a brown wig concealed my red hair. The wavy strands fell down to my waist.

I shivered. “Are you sure that no one will smell my domina blood at this party?”

“There will be too much spilled domina blood there to differentiate where it is coming from.”

I blinked.

Xander brushed his lips against my ear. “Is it wrong that I see those sexy brown legs and want to mark them with my fangs?”

“I think if I thought about it for a long time, it would be frightening, yet make me horny all at the same time.”

“Yet, that still was not a clear no.”

I crossed my legs and exposed the curve of my thigh. “Maybe I’ll let you bite me later tonight, but you’ll have to be a good vampire.”

“I need your permission now?” He laughed and brushed his lips against my ear again.

“Yes. I plan to make you beg.”

Xander entered my mind. Tonight, I’ll make you beg me with your thighs open wide and those sweet folds dripping wet. You’ll yell I’m your king until your voice is hoarse and then, and only then, will I mark you where I choose.

I shuddered as he nipped the tip of my ear. “You’ve smoked too many mushrooms.”

“Hmmm. I guess we’ll see about that.”

I grinned and turned back to the window.

Shiny copper buildings raced by; the image of us in the wagon reflected in their gleaming foundations.

Xander had been correct. This area must have overflowed with rich vampires.

In the city’s poor sections, most lived in concrete homes stacked on top of themselves and dressed in ripped clothing.

Here, in Noble Estates, almost every building or house was made out of high-priced metal bricks—silver houses, gold stores, and bronze blood restaurants.

On the gray-stoned paths, no one simply walked. Instead, they strolled with an air of privilege and wealth, adorned with gemmed chains around their necks and ornate glass pipes in their hands.
