Heady anticipation rode his back all the way into his bathroom. He hurried through his shower and dressed in his favorite lounging outfit: pink pajama pants and a matching short T-shirt that showed off his flat stomach. He found Ricky already waiting for him on the couch, another glass of red in his hand.
Snuggling under Ricky’s arm, he tucked his feet underneath him and sipped the Cabernet, the wine exploding on his tongue. He sighed and leaned into the big man, the stress of the long day totally gone now that he was full and relaxed. Ricky turned on the television and flipped channels until he landed on something he knew they both liked. B had been highly amused to find they were both addicted to baking competitions when neither of them baked.
The whole time he watched, his body hummed with excitement. He’d witnessed four couples in love today, and it seemed he might be getting the same thing. Lucas and his friends set a pretty high bar when it came to happily ever after, but for the first time in his life, B found himself believing it was possible for himself.
He looked up to find Ricky’s eyes locked on him, and what he saw there made his belly flip-flop because he recognized that look.
It was love.
