“How about this?” She scoots to face me. Her eyes are heavy with fatigue, but they’re also full of excitement and love. The way she looked at me on that stage made me feel about twenty feet tall, and I immediately knew that it was the right call. “Let’s call our parents, and probably Gray, and we can leave it at that until we get back to town. You know that everyone will want to get together anyway, and we can tell the story then, though they probably already saw it on TV.”

“I think that’s the only way we’ll get some private time tonight, so I love that idea. But before we make any more calls, what is our plan for the next few days?”

She frowns, thinking it over. “Well, I don’t have to go to Nashville because Annie has the contracts with her that I can sign.”

“Wait.” I hold up a hand and stare at her. “You’re signing a contract? You failed to mention that to me.”

“Oh, yeah. Sorry. I was so caught up in being asked to marry you that I forgot to mention it. And then we were at a party, and—”

I press my finger to her lips. “Skip to the good part.”

She grins and bites my fingertip.

“No changing the subject.”

She laughs and straddles me, wrapping her arms around my neck. “Annie and I met yesterday. I have a contract with Sony Nashville. The money is good, much better than I’ve received in the past. But it’s going to be touring that really pays off. Keaton, I have to tour.”

“Duh. I don’t know if you know this, but you’re a fucking big deal.”

But she doesn’t smile. She frames my face in her hands and watches me out of worried blue eyes.

“There will be times that we’re apart.”

“And there will be more when we’re together.”

She licks her lips, clearly very worried about this.

“Babe, you know who my uncle is. I grew up watching him and my aunt Sam deal with touring and all the things that come with that life. I’m not afraid of it.”

“I think there are going to be a lot of details that we’ll have to figure out. And I know that we will figure them out.”

“Good because, for a second there, I thought maybe you were getting cold feet.”

She simply kisses me, pressing her sweet lips to my own, and sinks in, comforting both of us in a way I didn’t realize I needed.

“Never,” she whispers fiercely, tipping her forehead against my own. “No regrets. No cold feet. We’ll figure it all out.”

“Damn right, we will. Now, let’s get back to the original question. What’s our schedule?”

“Would you like to come to Nashville for a day or two, to see my house there and stuff?”

I guess I’d better, given that we’ll be living there. “You bet. How about this? Let’s hop over to Nashville for a few days, then stop in at your parents’ place on our way back to Seattle so we can spend a few days with them.”

“You’d do that?”

“They’re your family. I think they’re going to want to congratulate you in person.”

“Us. They’ll want to congratulate us.”

“Right. Us. So, let’s do that and then go to Seattle for a bit and figure everything out.”

I don’t want to put my house up for sale. The shop is just too perfect, and there’s nothing that says that I can’t work out of there whenever Sid’s touring and I can’t be with her.

It’s all about compromise.

“Okay, I like this plan.” She smiles smugly and pushes her fingers through my hair. “Maybe we should make those calls before I get you naked.”

“Oh, you think you’re going to get me naked?”

I cock an eyebrow at her and reach back, over the globes of her ass, thanks to the fact that she had to hike that short-as-fuck dress up around her waist to be able to straddle me.

“I think I’ve got an advantage here.”

I push a finger inside of her, and she sighs, closing her eyes.

“Get those pretty blues on me.”

She obliges and watches my face as my fingers play her like an instrument.

“Holy.” She groans and lets her head fall back. “Shit.”

The calls can wait.

I reverse our positions on the hotel bed, laying her flat on her back, and work her panties over her hips and toss them on the floor.

“Wait.” She quickly clambers off the bed and wiggles her way out of her dress. “Sorry, this thing isn’t pliable, and it digs into my back if I lie down.”

She finally shucks it off, and I am met with the happy realization that there’s no bra under it.

“Resume the position.”

“Yes, sir.” She offers me a mock salute, jumps on the bed, and lies on her back, her legs spread without any hesitation or self-consciousness at all.

I fucking love it.
