I glanced over at the clock on my wall. “Not right this second. Right now, we’re heading to a meeting.”

She stood and smoothed out her skirt. It hugged that perfectly hourglass shape of hers. I liked a woman who wasn’t stick thin. All of a sudden, Saylor’s curves had me flexing my hands open and closed, trying to keep away the desire to touch her.

Far, far away. I’d never had a personal relationship with anyone I worked with, and I wasn’t about to start.

Although, the idea of bending her over my desk and…

Christ. Get your shit together, Quinn. You’re her boss.

Fuck, I couldn’t help but wonder what her body looked like under those clothes. The small glimpse of her legs was nice, and her blouse was showing just enough to let my imagination wander.

“Mr. Quinn?”

Her voice snapped me out of my dirty thoughts. I ran my fingers through my hair and sighed. I needed to get laid and fast. Daydreaming about one of my co-workers—no, one of my employees—was not going to happen. No matter how damn hot she was.

And smart.

And hot.

And funny.

And hot.

“Um, Mason, are you okay?” Saylor asked again. This time she had to lean over my desk and snap her fingers in my face.

Motherfucker. I had a bird’s-eye view of her cleavage.

Eyes up, Quinn.

“Yes, I’m fine. I was trying to remember if I needed to go over anything with you before we head into the meeting with the executive officers.”

Her face fell. “Executive officers?”

“Yes, here at Maxwell and Locke, the two CEOs—who, by the way, are married—like to meet their new staff each month. You’re lucky; you happened to start on the day of this month’s meeting.”

She forced a smile. “Wonderful, I’m looking forward to it.”

Saylor moved her fingers over the stain on her blouse.

“Want to take off your blouse?” I asked.

Her mouth dropped. “Excuse me?”

I pointed to the stain. “Your blouse—you’re clearly nervous about the stain. Do you want to take it off and put on another one?”

“I, um…I don’t carry extra blouses with me.”

Walking around my desk, I headed over to my closet and opened it. Reaching in, I picked out a blouse that was similar to the one Saylor had on. Turning, I handed it to her.

“Here ya go.”

She stood there staring like she wanted to slap the living fuck out of me. “You want me to wear that? Whom, may I ask, is the owner of that blouse?”

Wanting to see how riled up I could get her, I stated, “My ex.”

Her eyes grew wider. It looked as if she wanted to say something but then thought better of it.

“I’ll pass, thank you.”

Whirling around, she headed to my door. “I’ll wait at your assistant’s desk since I’m not sure where we’re going.”

I had to bite my cheek to keep from laughing. “Suit yourself!” I called out after she nearly slammed the door shut.

With a huge smile on my face, I headed back to my desk and grabbed my cell phone.

What had started as a shittastic day was turning out to be rather interesting.

CHAPTER THREE

* * *

Saylor

I MUMBLED UNDER my breath as I slammed the jackass’s door shut. His assistant, Ashley, glanced up at me and smiled.

“What did he say to you?”

Looking over at her, I asked, “What?”

She leaned back in her chair. “He’s moody, and the last person who went in there nearly came out sobbing. Charisa Phelps. She’s a product manager, and Mr. Quinn told her she didn’t know shit about the product she was working on. I thought she was going to fall to the ground and break down in tears.”

I frowned. The one golden rule for women in this business was to not let a man make you feel like less than he was. No matter how high up the ladder he was.

“You wouldn’t happen to have a Tide stick, would you?” I asked Ashley. “I have one back in my purse, but Mr. Quinn informed me I’m have to meet the CEOs and the board right now.”

With a huge grin, she nodded. She reached into her desk and pulled out a miracle stick from the Gods.

“Here ya go.”

I took it and quickly dabbed it on my blouse. “Thank you, Ashley. I owe you.” As I handed it back to her, I couldn’t help but notice her smile grow.

“Thank you for remembering my name.”

Drawing my head back in surprise, I asked, “Who doesn’t know your name? Mr. Quinn?”

“Oh no, he does. Some of the…well…some of the other marketing managers don’t know it or don’t try to remember it. They all think I’m sleeping with Mr. Quinn, which I’m not.”

Ugh. I knew how she felt. I had worked for a marketing firm during college as a receptionist and the man I’d worked for had called me the wrong name for two years. My last day, he’d finally gotten it right. Of course that was also when he’d backed me up against his door and tried to slip his hand up my skirt. Kneeing him in the balls probably wasn’t the best choice, but what’s a girl to do?
