“Elliott. Nice to meet you,” he said, holding his hand out for Jim but looking at me like… Oh. He was making sure I knew his name.

“Jim,” my ex grumbled. Yeah, what did he have to say now? My new fake boyfriend was way hotter than him.

They let go of each other’s hands, and Elliott looked at me again. Christ, his skin was flawless. I heard that about my skin a lot, but his was perfect, and while mine was on the paler side, his was more golden. He definitely looked like he was part Latino.

“Sorry I kept you waiting. Did you have a long day?” His voice was smooth as honey and I was a biscuit that wanted to drown in it. Elliott reached out and brushed the back of his hand against my cheek. I trembled, because oh, he was good. My dick was also getting quite interested in my savior.

“Yeah, you know how it is, but it’s better now.” I smiled at him. Two could play this game. If Elliott was going to sell this shit, I wouldn’t leave him to do it alone. I had no idea why he was doing it, but it felt good to stick it to Jim.

“Babe,” Elliott said.

“Hmm?”

Elliott grinned, and I was pretty sure I’d gotten lost in his eyes. What in the fuck was it about him? “That guy is speaking to you.”

“Oops.” I turned to my ex, who was scowling. He clearly wasn’t on team Parker and Elliott. I, however, was a fan.

“How did you guys meet?” Jim asked. I had the feeling he still didn’t believe us. Fuck him. I was hot. I could totally pull Elliott in real life.

“On a blind date.” Elliott rested his hand on my nape, tickling it with the tips of his fingers. “I was immediately smitten, not just because he’s sexy as hell, but because he’s kind, funny, and that thing he does with his tongue…fuck, it kills me.”

Okay, so he was laying it on a bit thick, but I couldn’t find it in myself to care. I also wasn’t typically the kind of guy who wanted to be saved, but Jim was an asshole and this was fun. I was happy to let Elliott swoop in and save the day.

“I don’t remember,” Jim grumbled.

“Maybe you didn’t give him as much to work with.” Elliott winked.

“Fuck you,” Jim told him.

“You ready to get out of here?” Elliott asked me.

“Yeah, sure. I already paid.”

This was the weirdest thing that had ever happened to me. I seemed to attract weird shit, so I was going with it—and at least it wasn’t unlucky weird as per usual. Well, unless Elliott turned out to be a murderer. That would suck. I wasn’t ready to die, and especially not at the hands of someone so beautiful.

He stood, and I did the same. When he tried to hold my hand, I pulled mine back. We didn’t need to go overboard. We could walk out together. I would thank him and then be on my way.

“Good to see you again, Jim,” I lied.

“Nice to meet you, man,” Elliott said. “I guess I owe you a thank-you…for not knowing what you had when you had it. Your loss is my gain.” Elliott smirked at him. Oh, he was cocky as fuck, and while that normally annoyed me, it was golden in this situation.

“You’re an asshole,” Jim told him.

“So I’ve been told,” Elliott replied, then to me, “shall we?”

I hooked my arm through his, deciding that yes, we should add some more icing to the cake before the two of us parted ways.

But Jim was right behind us. Shit. Was he going to follow us? To my relief, the second we got outside, he went to the left, and Elliott and I to the right.

“I think he’s pissed he didn’t get laid tonight,” Elliott whispered, amusement in his voice.

“I think you’re right.”

We didn’t let go of each other until we made it down the block some and around the corner. Then I immediately let go of him. “Fuck yes! Thank you. That was more fun than it should be. Also, how did you know to do that? Why did you do that? Oh God, are you a stalker?” I hadn’t even considered that Elliott could have some other motive here.

He laughed, rich and deep, the sound going straight to my groin. “I was sitting a few people away from him. Neither of you noticed. I overheard you talking. He’s a dick, so I thought I’d jump in and have a little fun. What did you ever see in that guy?”

“I have no idea. But then, people rarely show their true colors until they want to.”

He frowned, nodded.

It was busy out tonight, the way it usually was in WeHo. We continued down the sidewalk, passing people eating on restaurant patios and filling the streets.
