“Oh, so, don’t brag a lot. I would never do that, Mr. Graham.” I put his booster seat in the backseat of the Tahoe, and he climbs in, letting me buckle him in without a word.
“That’s right. Now, how about we get flowers for your mom? Think she’d like that?”
“You’re going to get way more ice cream than me.” He fake pouts.
“How about the flowers come from you? That way, you get your fill of sugar.” I wink.
“You’re on.” We bump fists, then I shut his door, climb into my seat, and we talk along the way about everything in the truck instead of playing I Spy.
Chapter 9
Faith
I’m proud of myself. I didn’t call or text Graham the fifty times I wanted to today to check in on Logan, though him texting did help. When I unlock and open the front door, the smell of dinner cooking is the first thing I’m welcomed with, along with laughter floating throughout the house. My heart soars with happiness. And when I notice the bouquet of fresh flowers on the counter, yeah, my ovaries are in overdrive by one hundred percent.
“Hello, Logan, Graham.” I let them know I’m home but don’t make my way to Logan’s room yet. First, I need to step out of my shoes, put my purse down, and place my lunch box in the kitchen, not to mention take a sneak peek at what’s in the oven.
I’m just opening the oven door when Graham’s hands hold my hips, scaring the shit out of me. “Oh my gosh, you scared the pee out of me!”
“Didn’t mean to. It’s not like I was being quiet, babe.”
I spin around in his arms after seeing a meatloaf in the oven, knowing Logan had a hand in dinner tonight. “But you were. I’m not even sure how that’s possible with how tall you are.” Graham chuckles. His laugh lines and eye crinkles come out, making me swoon even more than just by the way he’s holding me.
“Whatever you say, Faith. Now, give me a kiss before Logan walks in. I only have a few minutes to spare while he’s washing up.” Those hands of his cup my cheeks, lips swooping down on mine, and I’m not prepared. Not at all. Not for the welcome home, the cooking dinner, the taking care of my son, or the way I love this feeling probably way too much. But for the first time, I’m going to sit back and enjoy the ride.
The sweeping of his tongue against my lower lip has me gasping, and he takes advantage. I don’t deny him, instead moving closer to him, entangling our tongues, my body in hyperdrive wanting so much more than a kiss.
“Shit, Faith, we’ll continue this tonight.” He pecks my lips one last time. I watch as he steps back and adjusts the hard-on he has from just a simple kiss. It makes me feel all the better, too, to know that I have that effect on him.
“Yes, we will. Do I have time to take a quick shower?” I ask.
“Not helping matters, but yeah,” Graham growls low in his throat.
“Don’t worry. I’ll be thinking about you while I’m in there,” I toss over my shoulder. He smacks my ass as I walk by, and I giggle like a schoolgirl.
“Just you wait,” Graham replies.
“Wait on what?” Logan asks, a bright smile on his face, looking much better than he did yesterday or even this morning.
“Your momma. She’s going to shower, so why don’t you pull up a chair and help me make the salad since that’s all we have left?” Graham saves the day.
“Hi, Mommy.” Logan’s arms wrap around me.
“Hey, sweet boy. Did you have a fun day with Mr. Graham?”
“The best. We played Legos, built forts, went to the grocery store. Oh! We got flowers for you, too. Though Graham paid for them, he told me they could be from the both of us.” How something so little can mean the absolute world to me, I’ll never know, but my heart is so completely full.
“Is that right? Well, it seems I have two men to thank profusely, which I’ll do as soon as I get out of the shower. It was a yucky day.” I don’t want to get into it, but let’s just say a stomach bug is floating around the school. I hope I’m not bringing anything home in the form of germs.
“Oh, gross!” Logan jumps away from me. Graham laughs, and then I’m scurrying off to the shower, ready to spend the evening with not only Logan but Graham as well.
Chapter 10
Graham
“He asleep?” I ask Faith as she walks into the living room. I’m sitting on the couch, a beer in my hand, my feet propped up, waiting on Logan to fall asleep so I can spend some quality time with Faith.
