"They aren't wrong."

"With the loveliest of manners—-"

The billionaire raised a brow. "You don't think it's true?"

"Are you serious?"

"We already covered that," he deadpanned.

Daisy Rae refused to let herself smile. "Staring at a woman's breasts isn't exactly polite—-"

"I beg to differ."

"Things like that aren't up for debate," she protested.

"It is when the breasts one is staring at are as incredible as yours—-"

Her arms tightened around her chest. What was incredible right now was how the sudden thickness of his voice had her breasts feeling incredibly swollen and heavy.

"—-and they happen to belong to the woman they intend to marry."

Did she just hear him say that?

Daisy Rae could barely breathe now, and her heart nearly jumped out of her chest when she saw how Garion Ross' eyes were now flagrantly ablaze with desire.

"May I ask you a question, Daisy Rae?"

The intimacy of hearing him say her name for the first time was shocking to say the least, and all she could do was nod.

"Why did you tell Uncle Olsen that you needed time to think about my offer?"

The dulcet tone of his voice enslaved her senses even as the sound threatened her sanity.

"I'd like to know what else I can do," the billionaire said silkily, "to make sure you say yes."

Daisy Rae's throat went dry.

Was this really happening?

"Daisy Rae?"

He was calling her by her name again, and the sound of it was irresistible. It made her want to give him everything, and since what he was asking for was the truth—-

"I'm sure you know what kind of person you are—-" She almost said 'sir' out of habit but caught herself in time. "—-Mr. Ross."

Amusement flashed over the billionaire's gorgeous features. "Mister Ross?"

"Um..." What else was she supposed to call him?

"I'm not sure how I feel about you calling me Mr. Ross," the billionaire murmured. "I'll probably like it more once we're married—-"

Daisy Rae could only choke.

"Marriage would give it a whole new meaning, don't you think? I would be your Mr. Ross, and you would be my Mrs. Ross."

And now her face was on fire, even as she continued to choke.

"But for now, perhaps we can start with calling each other by our names?"

It was that tone again, Daisy Rae thought helplessly. Sweet as honey, but dangerous with a capital D, and the sound of it was a death knell for the painfully few brain cells she had left that were still functioning.

"Do you think you can do that?"

"I..."

"—-will have to continue this later," the billionaire cut her off with a sigh, "since we're already here."

Here? Where was here?

The chauffeur opened the door for them, and the billionaire stepped out before offering Daisy Rae his hand. "Let's go, baby."

Chapter Five

Garion's hand moved to the small of her back as he led her up the steps of his house, which looked more like a French chalet than a ranch. While the feel of his hand had Daisy Rae secretly taking huge gulps of oxygen, it was hearing him call her 'baby' that had her feeling like a floating, brainless mess.

A smiling pair of women was waiting for them in the living room, and Daisy Rae was startled when they greeted her by name.

"I'm Josie," the girl in the denim jacket added, "and this—-" She gestured to her curly-haired companion. "—-is Bessie. We're your glam squad for tonight."

Glam squad?

"My neighbor is holding a party," she heard the billionaire drawl from behind her, "and I was hoping you could join me as my date."

She turned to him, stunned. "A party?"

"Yes. A party."

The mocking tone of his voice made her grin despite herself.

"You're in good hands with Josie and Bessie," Garion assured her. "You won't have to worry about anything."

While the billionaire was speaking, both women had taken hold of her arms on each side, and before she knew it, she was already being led down a hallway.

"Mr. Ross has an extra room at the end," Bessie told her. "We've got everything set up there."

An extra room?

Normal folks had extra pens for writing or extra shirts to change into. But an extra room?

"Here we are," Josie sang.

And the room, albeit small, was still luxurious beyond belief, with an iron chandelier beaming down on a leather seating area, and expansive windows that perfectly framed the gorgeous evening views of the billionaire's ranch.

"Sit down, sleep, think of England," Josie urged her. "Do whatever you want while we work some magic."

Daisy Rae was sure the suggestions were well-meant, but how could one sleep when this evening was indeed shaping up to be magical? Her life had always been ordinary and predictable, but here she was all of a sudden, being pampered and styled for a night out with Texas' most sought-after bachelor.

Garion had briefly checked in on his sleeping son before returning to his guests, and he entered the room just in time to see Daisy Rae mouthing to herself again.
