“Get used to it,” Seldarin advised. “And start acting like you own it. The Dark Fae need a firm hand to rule them.”

“Sel is right—you need a more authoritative attitude—and you need to be sure to claim your birthright,” Krynn told me. “The people must feel your certainty of who you are and what is owed to you.”

“I don’t know about that,” I began. “I—” Then I hissed again because I’d forgotten why I was holding my nightgown out in front of me and had let go of it to gesture with my hand. But the minute the soft, champagne colored silk brushed my nipples, twin bolts of pain went through me.

“What is it? What’s wrong?” Seldarin demanded at once.

“She’s in pain because of the quickening of her power,” Krynn answered, before I could say anything myself. “It’s possible her Thirst is coming on faster than we anticipated it would. We need to ease her pain.”

“Ease my pain? How?” I asked, bewildered.

“Like this, Princess.” And before I could stop him, Seldarin was drawing the long silk nightgown over my head and baring my body for the two of them.

The Princess gasped and blushed, trying to hide her luscious curves with her arms as I pulled off the gown. But her breasts were too large and full to hide and her sweet little pussy was already pouting and swollen with need.

Gods, she was fucking gorgeous!

Despite knowing how dangerous she would soon become, my cock stiffened in my trousers. I couldn’t fucking help it—I’d thought she was adorable back when she was still covered in her human dross. Now that her true form and beauty had been revealed, I found her absolutely irresistible.

I could tell that Krynn felt the same. That dreamy, submissive look had come into his eyes—the same one he gets when he’s deep in the Needing. I had seen it before when I helped him out, to keep him from going back to Lady Elgiana. But now it was directed at the Princess and I knew he longed to give himself to her—to offer her everything, even his life.

To be fucking honest, I kind of felt the same way. She was my Princess—soon to be my Queen. I had sworn an oath to protect and serve her, back when she was just a baby. Now she was a grown Fae only a few days shy of being fully of age and she was even lovelier than the old Queen, her mother had been.

Then I gave myself a mental shake—what was I thinking? Yes, I was loyal to the Princess, but that didn’t mean I was suddenly turning into a Needer—a submissive who enjoyed sexual suffering.

I told myself that I had to be strong—I was a warrior and the Captain of the Palace Guard. It wasn’t in me to submit to any female. If she needed to drink from me—to use me—I would of course, give myself freely. But that didn’t mean I had to like it…or take pleasure from her fangs in my throat, when she inevitably pierced me.

For now, though, she needed easing. She had refused to drink from me but if Krynn and I didn’t help take the edge off the appetites that the Thirst caused in her, the first bite she gave could be deadly. We needed to ease into this slowly and try to meet her needs before they reached a fever pitch or neither I nor Krynn would survive her first Quenching.

So I ignored her protests as I swung her into my arms and laid her on the bed.

I understood what Sel was doing, but I didn’t want the Princess to fear us. We were the only ones who were truly loyal to her in the whole Palace—she needed to be able to trust us both.

So when Sel laid her down on the white fur coverlet, I lay down beside her on her right and tried to soothe her as he lay on her left.

“It’s all right, my Lady,” I murmured, stroking the long, beautiful hair out of her lovely face. “Sel and I won’t do anything you don’t want—we just need to ease the ache you’re feeling.”

“How…what do you mean? How do you know I’m, uh, aching?” she demanded, her Royal Purple eyes wide and uncertain. Gods, she was lovely!

Maybe it was the touch of humanity that remained in her that made her so beautiful, I speculated. Her skin wasn’t pure platinum and her eyes still held human emotion. Nor was she as tall as a Fae lady of the Court—her slight stature made me feel protective of her.

“We can tell you’re in need by the way your nipples have grown so sensitive—and the way you’re pressing your legs together.” Sel nodded down to where she was, indeed, squeezing her thighs tightly together.

“We’re not going to hurt you,” I promised her. “Just let us ease some of your sexual need. If we don’t, your Thirst will overwhelm you and you’ll lose control—you might even kill whoever you drink from first,” I added, trying to let her know the gravity of the situation.
