She was in my heartbeats.

EPILOGUE

Yara

One Month Later

“Stop it, Alex! We have to go.” I giggled as he trailed kisses down my neck. We stood in the refrigerator at his restaurant, fumbling around like high school kids under the school bleachers. We’d made out as if we just discovered what kissing was. I felt overpowered with want and need as my body fell against his. His hands roamed over me as a low growl slipped through his lips. I loved that. I loved not only when I could feel his desires, but when he vocalized them, too.

“You smell amazing,” he whispered as he lifted me on one of the empty shelves in the fridge. He inched my dress up slightly, grazing his hand against my inner thigh. “I bet you taste even better.”

A slight whimper escaped me as I almost fell into the trap that was Alex Ramírez. That filthy mouth of his had a way of making me lose all common sense.

“No!” I said, shaking my head and falling back to reality. I lowered myself from the shelf and playfully shoved him away. “Stop it.”

“But, I just”—he let out a wicked grin and started back at me—“want a little bit more.”

I pointed a stern finger. “No, Alex. Stay,” I ordered. “Be a good boy.”

“Oh.” He bit his bottom lip. “But I know you like it when I misbehave.”

Oh, how I do.

I loved when he broke every command. I was good at training dogs, but Alex seemed to be untrainable when it came to him keeping his paws off me. I hardly ever cared, but that afternoon we were on a strict deadline.

I shook my head. “Okay.” I took another step back, creating more distance between us. I smoothed my hands over my dress. It wasn’t any ole dress, either. It was my wedding gown. Oh gosh. I was getting married today. In fifteen minutes, I’d be marrying the one man who loved me more than I’d ever been loved before. That was if I could get him out of the freaking refrigerator.

“How do I look?” I asked Alex, striking a pose.

His brown eyes smiled at me before his lips had. “Like a dream come true.”

My sweet black cat.

I giggled and swatted his arm. “Okay, now go. And pretend we haven’t seen each other yet, okay? That’s bad luck, I think. But act just as wowed by my beauty as you were when you found me earlier and dragged me into this fridge.”

“Trust me, Goldie. The wow factor isn’t leaving any time soon. You look astonishing.”

My cheeks heated. I still felt bashful whenever he’d compliment me, and he did that quite often. I could be covered in dog slobber and he’d say I was the most beautiful woman he’d ever seen.

I shoved him closer to the exit. “Go. Now. Or I might do things to you that I was saving for after our vows.”

He arched an excited brow. “I’m always down for a good meal. Then we can have the leftovers later. I love late-night snacks.”

“Alejandro.” I laughed. “Go.”

He pulled me closer to him and went back to kissing my neck. My body arched toward him from the sensations he’d sent through my system. It was always the neck kisses that made me melt. He knew that, too. He was using his mouth placement to make me desire more kisses.

“Just a little bit more,” he moaned against my skin, sliding his hand over my behind and pulling me closer to him. My body pressed against him and I giggled a little from the hardness that brushed against my thigh. I had a feeling that saying our vows in front of our loved ones wasn’t currently the top thought dancing through his mind.

“Yes, yes, just like that, my Kitty Kat,” I murmured with a slight purr.

He instantly paused and stepped away from me. He shot me a stern glare. “I told you to never call me that!”

I laughed. “Desperate times call for desperate measures. I had to get you off me somehow. Now, leave.”

He pouted. “Fine. But I’ll meet you back in here after I call you my wife.”

I’d be that in a few minutes—his wife.

Mrs. Black, or well, Mrs. Ramírez if one wanted to be technical.

I agreed with his request. “Deal.” When he opened the door, I called out one last time. “Mr. Black?”

He looked over his shoulder. I fell in love with those eyes all over again every time they found mine. “Yes, Goldie?”

I huffed and rolled my eyes as I held my hand out. He smirked and placed his hand against mine.

I pulled him closer and then rested my hands against his chest. “Okay, fine. You win.” I kissed him nice and slowly as I whispered, “Just a little bit more…”
