“I do,” I agree, and I have to admit to myself that he always knows how to handle me.
“You going to tell me why you’re crying, princess?”
“It’s all overwhelming,” I admit, but I could probably blame it on the pregnancy hormones too. “You make me feel things I’ve never felt before. I was so sure my heart would be broken forever.”
“I wasn't going to let you get away from me. You make me feel shit I’ve never felt before too. You're unlike any woman I’ve ever met. Strong but sweet and fucking beautiful.” He smiles and shakes his head. “But there’s this deeper part between us that’s destined. I don’t know how to explain it, but being with you is what I’m meant to do. The longer we’re together, the more I get to peel away your outer shell and see who you really are underneath. And I love every layer.”
I suck in a breath. “You love me?”
“Yes, I love you. Why would I be losing my mind if I didn't? You mean more to me than anything in this world,” he half shouts, and I kiss him, wrapping myself around him tighter.
“Princess, say it back,” he orders, turning me on. I don’t know how he does that. With anyone else I’d tell them to fuck off, but not with Gibson.
“I love you,” I say and mean it with every inch of my soul.
He drops his forehead to mine and closes his eyes. “I won’t ever keep anything from you again. I promise you that.”
I lean back, needing to look into his eyes. “If we’re not keeping secrets, then there’s something I need to tell you.”
“I don’t want to hear if you were with someone else.” His hold on me turns possessive, and I smile.
“No! I was with my sisters.” Then my eyes narrow. “Were you with someone else?”
“Fuck no.” I didn't think so, but his question caught me off guard for a moment. “Now tell me.”
“I don’t know how it happened. I mean, I know how it happened. I just don’t know where I messed up. Really it’s your fault. You mess with my head and I couldn't keep your hands off me.” I try to say what I need to, but it's all a jumbled, messy rush, and I know I’m not making sense.
“I agree to all of that.” He smiles, and I melt into him a little more. “Spit it out, princess. Nothing you can say will ever make me stop loving you.”
Unconditional love is all I’ve ever dreamed of.
He smacks the side of my ass, and I glare at him. He stares right back, and I bite my lip.
“I’m pregnant,” I blurt out and watch his whole expression change as he realizes our lives will forever be entwined.
Chapter 16
Gibson
I take her off my lap and place her on the bed beside me as I stand up. We’re both still completely naked, and although I came, I’m still just as hard as when I first walked in here.
“Gibson?” Her voice is soft as I walk to the bedroom door, determination straightening my back.
“Stay,” I say to her over my shoulder as I go into the living room and get what I need. When I come back, she’s still sitting in the same spot, but she’s worrying her bottom lip, and she looks like she’s on the verge of tears.
“I know this is shocking, but it’s not like we planned it,” she says, her voice close to breaking.
I walk over to the side of the bed and kneel down next to it as I place the small velvet box between us. “I know that you may not be ready for this, but I came here today to put this on your finger.”
“Oh my god,” she whispers as she brings her hands up to her mouth.
“You’re going to marry me, Lindsey.” Her eyes sharpen, and she doesn’t like me ordering her, but I don’t care. “You are mine.” I place my hand on her belly and then look into her eyes. “This baby is mine.”
“Gibson, you don’t have—”
“There isn’t a scenario on this planet where you don’t end up with me. I won’t allow it. I came here to put my ring on your finger so you’d know every fucking day how much I love you and how much I want you. I choose you, Lindsey, and I choose our baby. I need this, and you’re going to give it to me.”
I open the box and take the ring out, then hold it there as I wait for her to give me her hand. She doesn’t hesitate as I slide it on her finger and my whole world clicks into place.
“You’re getting really bossy.” I see the edges of her lips curl up like she’s trying to hide a smile.
