She laughs and slaps me against my stomach.

I grip her fingertips and slowly kiss each one. “I really like you.”

“I really, really like you,” she says back.

“We doing this?”

“Yeah.” She nods. “We are.”

“Should have never stopped,” I whisper, tugging her by the neck and pulling her mouth to mine, kissing her deeply; our tongues don’t know what to do but touch, slide, suck, hold. I feel like I’m drowning, and I accept it, like breathing in the water, knowing you might die.

I’d suffocate in her.

She smiles against my mouth and shoves my jeans down. I kick them further. Her leggings are next, and her thong follows, crashing against the ground.

And then we’re naked against each other.

Skin against skin never felt so good. She’s soft and hard, strong and beautiful, there are so many things I want to say, but all I have right now is my body and the hope that I can make her feel as good as she makes me feel. She’s so perfect in a beautifully imperfect way.

I want to see her scars.

I want to trace them with my tongue.

I want to tell her they’re beautiful no matter what she thinks.

“Mine,” I say again. “I’m never letting you go.”

“Good, because that would be awkward.” She laughs.

I capture that laugh with my lips and tumble us towards the other couch, our legs bang against furniture and the tables, and then it’s just us and the moonlight from the window. I always wanted someone to hold.

Now I have her.

I can’t breathe without her.

I take a deep breath and stare down at her. “Stay by me forever?”

She nods, and a tear slides down her cheek. I capture it with my finger, taste it and look down at her. “I want to lose control with you.”

“Good,” she says. “Because I’ve lost everything to you, and my only hope is that you’ll let me save you the way you saved me.”

I grip her thighs with my hands. I spread them wide, so wide, she gasps and then thrust into her like a savage. Her eyes roll to the back of her head. “Like this?”

“It has to be like this,” she cries. “Like this,”

I shove harder, her hips brace higher.

“Tell me you hate me,” I say. “Then tell me you love me.”

“I love every part of you.” She moans, then pulls at my hair. It hurts so good I nearly come. “Yeah,” I yell. “Like that, we have to lose it together, lose everything.”

She flexes her hips.

I quickly grab a condom I conveniently stashed in the potted plant on the table and put it on. I didn’t plan it, but I wanted to plan just in case and take care of her, of us.

It takes no time for me to drive between her thighs.

I’m dead.

This is my heaven.

It might be others’ hell.

But not now.

“I’m not letting you go.”

“Did you think I was running?”

“Did you not realize I would chase?”

Her eyes well up with tears as we move in sync.

“Mine,” I say, capturing her lips as I gently slide into her this time. She’s still so tight I almost stop, but her legs hook around me, pulling me in.

I think I might like to die this way.

I’m completely hers.

I thought we were having sex.

No, she’s fucking me.

I’m just here for the popcorn.

Because, damn.

I roll my hips.

Her moans aren’t helping as she meets me with every thrust, and then I’m gone, dazed, confused, fucking her so hard that I can’t see straight while she kisses me and tugs at my hair.

“Aghh.” She jerks back. “I’m--”

“—Same.” I finally grunt out.

And then it’s just us again.

Staring at each other.

Wondering where to go from here but knowing there has to be a trail, a sign, something.

I have no words.

But I do have my mouth. I have my body.

So I kiss her again. I hug her, then press another small kiss against her neck and whisper. “Perfect.”

Chapter Thirty-Eight

Ambrose

“I can’t believe you’ve never done that before…” I laugh, tickling MB awake and probably annoying the shit out of her.

“It was late!” She ducks under the covers and mumbles. “Why are you waking me up so early anyway?”

“Ice cream on your nipples, classic.”

“So cold.”

“So tasty,” I say quickly. “And I’m not the least bit sorry.”

“Yeah, I could tell. Even when you bit me, you were all, oh sorry, my jaw slipped.”

“It happens!”

“No, it really doesn’t.” She pinches my leg.

A throat clears, she looks out from under the blanket, and I look over my shoulder. Quinn’s standing there in nothing but the jeans he was in the night before, shaking his head. “Please, at least tell me you used a condom because I really can’t become an uncle this early in life; I have dreams too.”

I throw a pillow at him. “Always wrap it up.”

“Always.” Quinn nods, then goes to the fridge.

When he gets there, his hand freezes on the handle as he reads the list.
