What the hell!

Opening my eyes, I raise my head, and Bleriana is staring at me all wide-eyed and pink-cheeked while she’s lying next to my wife from the other side of our super-king.

I’m momentarily stunned.

I mean, it wouldn’t be the first time I’ve woken up with more than one woman in bed, but never in this situation.

“Good morning,” I say because I can’t think of anything else, and I’m conscious of the slow flush that heats my cheeks while my boner dies.

Alessia squirms as she rouses beside me, brushing my dick and bringing it instantly back to life. She reaches out and places a hand on Bleriana’s cheek.

Wait a minute! What about me?

“Good morning. Did you sleep okay?” Alessia asks, her voice soft and welcoming.

Bleriana blinks a couple of times. “Yes. Very well. Your husband is awake. Is he mad?”

Alessia smiles. “No, why would he be?” and with a smirk, she continues, “I think he’s woken up to more than one woman in his bed before.”

Bleriana gasps once more, scandalized but amused by her friend’s candor, then lets out a bubble of laughter and Alessia giggles too.

“I shouldn’t tell you that. It’s a good thing he doesn’t understand Albanian.” Alessia turns over to face her husband.

My wife is tousled and sleepy and giggly and utterly beautiful. “Good morning, Lady Trevethick. Something you want to tell me? We seem to have acquired a stowaway during the night.”

Alessia’s gaze is alight with mischief and love, and to my relief, the anguish from last night seems a distant memory. Her dark eyes are focused on me, and all I see in them is her adoration—and I yearn for her. In every way, even with our audience present.

But I can’t fuck her right now—though I’d like to—because… Bleriana.

“I hope you don’t mind. Bleriana was afraid in the night. She came in here. I moved over, and we didn’t wake you. There is more room in this bed than in the spare room; more important than that, you are here, keeping us safe from our bad dreams.”

“I thought the little dragon did that.”

“He does. But you do too. You always do.” She strokes my cheek, her fingers brushing my stubble, and the contact of her skin on mine and her sweet words lead directly to my dick.

“Oh, Alessia,” I murmur and kiss her lightly on the lips, though I want to do so much more.

Damn cockblocker!

To indicate my need, I tilt my hips forward, prodding her with my erection. “I’d get out of bed, but this gives the game away.”

“Maxim!”

I grin. And plant a swift kiss on her forehead. “This will take a moment.”

“We’ll make coffee.” Alessia grins, turns, and ushers Bleriana out of bed.

“Does he make you get up every day and make coffee?” Bleriana asks when they’re in the kitchen, her disapproval apparent in her frown.

Alessia laughs. “No. He makes coffee, even breakfast sometimes, but I like to do these things for him. He’s a good man. I love him so much.”

“I can see that. You are lucky.”

“I am.” Alessia beams.

After her shower, Alessia quickly pulls on jeans and a sweater while Bleriana showers in the spare room en suite.

Maxim is already freshly washed, dressed, and sitting at his computer in the living room when Alessia interrupts him. “My lord, I have a request.”

He turns his attention from the screen to her. “Why are you standing so far away?” He reaches for her and tugs her onto his lap. “What is it, my lady?” He nuzzles her ear. “And if it’s about Bleriana joining us in Cornwall, I would rather she didn’t.”

“Oh.” Alessia slumps against him, disappointed.

“Love, it’s not what you think,” he says quickly. “When Leticia rang earlier this week, she said that the Home Office might refuse you a family visa if they find out you’ve been in the country illegally. You were trafficked with Bleriana, and she’s known to the police.” A crease forms between his brows. “I’m worried that someone will make the connection between you two, and if the press get hold of that…”

“Oh.” Alessia pales.

“Exactly. But I suggest we ask Leticia to expedite whatever’s happening with Bleriana’s case for asylum. It’s Leticia’s area of expertise, and Bleriana might get a visa before you do.”

“Okay,” Alessia says, but she’s still ambivalent about Maxim dealing with Ticia.

Alessia! Ticia is an expert.

“That is a good plan. You will ask Ticia?”

He smiles. “I’ll email her now. And when this is all sorted, Bleriana can come to Cornwall anytime. Though I would prefer it if she slept in her own bed.”

“She’s… um…trauma…traumatized,” Alessia says quietly.

“I know.” He brushes her hair behind her ear. “But it’s not appropriate.” Maxim shrugs, his smile rueful.

Alessia nods in understanding. If the staff find out, they will assume the worst.

“She’s very young,” he says. “Does she want to go back to Albania?”
